This fix has worked for me and is Absolutly needed for me to run Visual Voice Mail. It seems to be a data connect. Before using it, I would get that ijiot popup while on verizon and extended verizon. I have never shown to be off their network entirely so am unable to test what happens if your off even extended. Once in a blue moon I may get it. ( 1 room in my house dont ask me why dont know)

I have AT&T and Verizon, but I had this problem on my Verizon phone.

There are plenty of task managers out there. I am just trying to figure out what process owns that message.

The one in Energy ROM cab be found here:

I am looking to solve the issue and not just work around the problem.
I completely understand that you're trying to actually fix this problem, and I'm sure we all appreciate it (I know I do).

I was just trying to figure out if I'm just getting lucky or if this is in fact a workaround for this problem.

If this is in fact a workaround then maybe we can start gathering information from that and go from there.

Just a thought.

I am right there with you. I would try it if I had a way of testing, but right now I have good coverage using a VZW tower.

I am brining the stock ROM with me when I travel just in case...

I believe the .dll is in "device.exe" at least that seems to be what moves in the task manager when it happens on my tp2...

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.7 (Windows Mobile; PPC; Opera Mobi/35432; U; en) Presto/2.2.1)

Tried both cabs in this thread (swiching to auto a/b made no diff) also tried flashing to stock/programed and then flashed to the newst nrg leo and it still did it... I live 5 min away from an area that I get this popup on so if anyone wants me to test stuff I can. Also tried home only btw and I lost all signal so thats not an option.

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??

Let me start by saying I don’t have a solution for this, but as someone who loves NRG’s ROMS and travels overseas a great deal, I’ve made several observations that I will share which hopefully will provide clues to whomever has the right experience to figure this out. Basically, the NRG CDMA ROM is unusable if you have Verizon and travel a lot. But as several have said, I don’t think this is a ROM issue, but rather a carrier provisioning issue. As far as I can tell, looking all over the forums (this thread seems most relevant) and comparing stock and NRG custom registries, there are many things missing in the most recent Verizon provisioning cabs as it relates to traveling outside of the Verizon network.
A) Assisted dialing entries and dlls/executables are completely missing (this is needed to adjust the dialing prefix depending on where you are and how you saved phone numbers – e.g. with or without +1,001, etc.)
B) Under phone->options->CMDA Services and GSM/UMTS services, many of the options are missing or different (some of it including “Network Services->Automatic-A/B”) have been discussed here
C) If you are in a GSM or UMTS region, then the data dialing option of “VZW Embedded GSM” is missing (explained in this thread already) and you cannot connect to a data network even though you can connect to a 3G voice network fine
D) If you are in a CDMA area, then everything seems to work but you get the frequent annoying message that this thread started with
I have tried all of the ideas mentioned in this thread, as well as tried copying several registry settings, dlls and executables from my stock rom to NRG’s to no avail. I will keep trying different things (blindly since I really don’t understand the guts of the OS or the Verizon stuff) and will report any progress, but until this is fixed, I’m back to stock. L

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??

Mike has a jan 4 update for his standard rom. Has anyone tested it yet? None of the upgrade notes mentioned this problem so I assume it hasn't.

I will flash it this evening and test it out and post the results tomorrow. I'll just be driving through extended network and parking in a verizon zone so it won't cripple me.

His rom is so far superior to the verizon stock rom that I am almost willing to not use the phone for data on the days that I travel...just to keep his rom.

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??

i am still getting the message. i am updating this thread from my phone so data is working. that means that the message is not only annoying....it is also wrong.

I am going to hunt for a good task manager that will tell me what dll owns that message.

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??

Thanks Thayer. This is an interesting one... must be a setting - and the Mighty ROM's don't touch the radio or provisioning OR... might it be the unlocker HardSPL? Just don't know enough about what generates that message. So your idea to identify dll would be a great step in the right direction.
