Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??

One other workaround I've thought of is to modify the Verizon PRL to have the roaming indicator set to "off" for all SIDs. I believe the message appears whenever the "Extended Network" ERI is called by the PRL to be displayed. Especially since data works (roaming 1X and EVDO) even though the phone is popping up the "voice only network" error. I'm going to modify and download to my phone next. I'll report back my findings with it too. |

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??
I live right on the "line" of Extended Network (US Cellular) and Verizon EV service. At home i only get 1X Extended Network, less than a mile north i get Verizon EV.
I have tried pretty much all of the newest ROM's and they all give me the same popup. If i set to Home Only = No Service. I have tried this on each rom with same results. The roms that have the A & B options still give the same popup. I am forced to use the stock rom until there is a solution for this. I work in outside sales and over 1/2 my travels are in the 1X Extended Network are. |

I'm on C_Fay 1.1 and have never seen this. I work in a 1x area everyday and everything is fine.

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??
I live in South Dakota which is 80% Verizon.
I started getting this message like mad this weekend when I drove across the state. I would hit pockets of "Extended Network" and the popup would come like once a second. Very annoying. I am using NRG's ROM. |

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??
I experienced this for the first time this weekend while traveling in PA out in the middle of nowhere. It is extremely annoying. My wife has the same phone with a stock ROM and was not having the problem.
Fortunately for me, I am not in an area where I can test a solution. There was some indication in other threads that changing the network selection had an effect on the problem. To that end I created a CAB to enable all network setting in the CDMA configuration screen (see below). Settings Ã* Personal Ã* Phone Ã* CDMA Settings If someone wants to take it and test out the various selections, you can PM me with your findings. If it does not help, I can keep looking. BTW: Standard is the settings on the STOCK ROM, so I am only hopeful that this will ease the pain, but the true solution has to be somewhere else. Thanks are appreciated... I didnt use your cab, but I did make the registry change to show all values in my menu.
I should be traveling through the same aread next week, so I will see if it works now that I have Auto-B selected. |

I tried the changing network selection fix as described and it didn't work on MightyROM. Also had the the voice only network on Juicy. I ended up and went back to Stock. |

Re: VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??
I kept getting this message too, so I went back to stock.
I then decided to try another custom ROM without hard resetting and I no longer get that message. I know you're supposed to hard reset anytime you flash your ROM, but I figured it was worth a try. I've done this with two different custom ROM's now and both have been fine. First I flashed Juicy's R6 ROM and now I'm running the latest MightROM. I haven't had one pop up on either one. It would be nice if someone else could try this. If it works then we've just solved the pop up problem, if not then I guess I'm just lucky. Just to clarify, flash back to a stock ROM and then update your phone via *228. After that flash any custom ROM, but do not hard reset and see if you still get the pop up. Please report back any findings. |
