VERIZON users on Custom Rom's - annoying voice-only network notification??

I believe it only affects devices on VZW network, while roaming on non-VZW towers in 1x mode. That might sound like it wouldn't happen very often, but next time you try a road trip of a few hours and get outside metro areas you'd be surprised!

It only happens on custom ROM's, and thus I think that Verizon isn't being 100% provisioned properly or the kitchen is flawed. Remember those Automatic-A and Automatic-B settings? I no longer have those.. When on stock ROM, I have to be on Automatic-B, as Automatic-A will cause issues, and VZW tells you to do this in my area. Thus, since I only have two options for CDMA Network Service in custom ROM's, that is where I suspect the issue lies. I do not believe it is specific to a certain custom ROM but I believe most if not all custom ROM's are affected.

ill send u a link to my rom to test before i go public. install my provisioning cab via my app in connections and test.

im in 1x all the time at home. i dont get this.

I have to drive about an hour and a half away from where I'm at in order to test this.. I'll probably be headed that way in about a month or so, perhaps earlier. If someone else lives on a fringe area where you roam to different towers and see this message pop up on your device, perhaps you could speak up and Juggalo_X can PM you the ROM?

lets put it this way, in my area i roam on bell towers all day long. there isnt a single telus tower here, i live 1.5 hour from any major city or telsu tower. this is why i think the error message is invoked by the radio some how.

Hrm... maybe it has to do with US Cellular... That's where I was roaming and got the problem, and that's where mrvoid was roaming and got the problem.

So the common link is VZW TP2 user with custom ROM, roaming on US Cellular.

I don't want to invalidate the Radio theory, but if that were so why would it not happen on stock ROM? I made the same trip in october with stock ROM and didn't get the message once.. then when I was in the US Cellular area for some time a week or two back and played with the ROM's I confirmed the custom ROM's I tried saw the issue, whereas flashing back to stock ROM fixed it.

This is interesting because even though i'm in sprint territory, I have gone to call someone even on stock rom and got a stupid message saying this is not a US Celluar number.

Course i'm thinking wth!

SPrint towers, verizon network and getting US Celluar msg's.

I have also had this same problem. I am with Verizon, and get the error when I enter US Cellular area's. I'm currently using MightyRom. Would be nice to know what is causing the problem. Phone is a terrible pain to use once this starts happening.

Have you tried *228 to program your phone and/or upgrade the PRL after installing a new ROM? This could relate the problem to the ROM or the provisioning.

Yes and the phone is provisioned and NAM programmed correctly because voice/data works on both Verizon Wireless network and on Extended Network. The issue is not PRL related because it has the correct PRL.

It's not 1X specific. I'm getting this when roaming on Cellular South EVDO Rev A. "Extended Network" PRI is displayed, data works, and the pop-up appears continually.
