I am loveing not having to click that damn popup while at work, one qestion though would it be posable to set all the extrnl networking stuff still set to home and keep the verizon stuff alone? that way you can still tell if your in vzw network or ext (blank in this case). If its not thats ok just a thought :).

I do not think it is going to hurt anyone who wants to try. It is easy to change back and only groups you on a tower with other callers so they can block your phones and prioritize emergency services.

Nice try but you are right that it has nothing to do with the pop-up. Access Control Class is the last digit of your MIN (to make it random) and assigns priority to your call if the cell network gets overloaded (too many calls at one time). This almost never happens unless something major is going to cause everyone to make calls at the same time like 9/11 in NYC or Katrina in New Orleans.

Both ERI versions 4 and 5 have no effect about the pop-up. The only way to stop it I've found is to modify the PRL to never turn on the "Extended Network" roaming indicator.

No the pop-up appears because the phone knows its roaming aka displays "Extended Network". The reason my PRL trick works is I kill the "Extended Network" and "Verizon Wireless" ERI.

EDIT: Wait a sec... I understand what you are saying now. Display "Verizon Wireless" when on Verizon Wireless and no text when on Extended Network. Might work. I will test and see...

Strange results. I had post about this problem when i first got my new phone. I had tried several custom ROM's all with the same popup. Then i tried one of MightyROM's dont remeber witch and didnt have the problem. I have used several of the mightryrom "project" rom's with no popup. Then today i installed the "Verizon" 6.5 update to get the new radio and went back to the MightyROM and now i get the popup. I then loaded a few other ROM's and now i am on Calkulin's ROM with no popup after running the carrier cab. I was just getting ready to load that custom PRL but dont guess i have to now.

The question of I have for users that have the pop-up go away when changing ROMs is are you actually seeing "Extended Network" and not having a pop-up?

The only time the pop-up appears is when the phone loses Verizon-native service and goes to "Extended Network". Now keep in mind if you lose Verizon-native service for just a second and go to Extended Network then go back, you might see the pop-up still on the screen and the "Verizon Wireless" ERI banner, but trust me the pop-up only appears when the phone goes to "Extended Network".

What cab did you run? I am convinved this is a Provisioning problem. Calkulin has ported the lates Verizon provisioning to his kitchen. I am doing a comparison, but I have no doubt the chefs will beat me to the solution.

My home is in a extended area. I cannot even call any of the * numbers to program my phone or prl from my home. So when i am getting the popup it is all of the time.

Once i ran the Verizon provisioning built into the ROM the popup went away. So it seems that some ROM's do the provisioning correctly and some dont.

I will try to make a better list as i try different ROM's

Right now i know for a fact that Calkulin 1.33 ROM and MightyROM WAR & Impact will run without the popup. As i have used these three in the last 2 weeks.

Just a fyi I had the popup with MightyROM's Impact, I think you just got lucky with that flash =/. I have tried almost every rom on here and iv yet to flash a custom rom that does not have that damn popup.

The only thing that doesn't make since about the cause of the pop-up being provisioning is AFAIK provisioning entails configuring the data login and SMS/MMS settings, so if that was problem data wouldn't work when the pop-up flashes up. Data works even when the pop-up appears saying that it doesn't. I can Google and run a sync with my Exchange server, just have to keep clicking the pop-up off the screen. The only common denominator about the pop-up is that it only appears when the roaming indicator (for us, the "Extended Network" banner) comes up. That's why my PRL fix works, because all I did is turned off the roaming indicator and no more pop-up. Some process or driver or something pops that message up whenever it thinks its roaming.

Now why some ROMs are effected and why the pop-up almost randomly quits happening between different ROM flashes beats the heck out of me!

I do want to ask if everyone can agree that the roaming indicator has got something to do with it. And please everyone that the pop-up has quit appearing for... give us the Custom ROM name and version, Windows Build version, PRL version, ERI version, and Radio version.

Here's a dumb question...

Can anyone explain to me why this problem doesn't exist on Verizon's stock ROMs, and why there isn't some setting buried somewhere in the Stock ROMs that can simply be ported to the aftermarket custom ROMs to solve the issue?

That's a very smart question! The Custom ROM Kitchens use bits and pieces of software and device drivers from other carriers stock ROMs and even some software (Manila) from other phones. If we knew exactly what software/driver/whatever that was generating the pop-up, we'd have the problem solve.

What really complicates troubleshooting is the following:
* Reports that after flashing between different ROMs, the pop-up stops appearing and doesn't come back, even when flashing again.
* Reports that a particular Custom ROM doesn't have the pop-up for one user, but someone else reports the same ROM does have the pop-up.
* The fact that the pop-up only appears when the phone is roaming on "Extended Network" and due to the configuration of the Verizon PRL ("preferred only flag is set"), users in strong Verizon markets (like NYC for example), never roam so they never see the pop-up. So most VZW customers never see "Extended Network". Only the few that live or travel to rural areas with smaller carriers like US Cellular.

Well this is a first for me, last night I flashed Calkulin's new 1.4 23518 2.5 manila. Guess what NO popup while I was in extended network today! :headbang:

Honestly I dont know either to be happy or not, as this is the first time iv flashed a custom rom that had no popup and dont know if I just got lucky or what. I did nothing different then my normal flashing ritual either (flash from laptop/hardreset via hardware keys/*228 opt 1 after phone sets up).

I run MightyROM without the error now. Part of the problem is there are STILL some lingering issues about CDMA network service. When you flash MightyROM (and a couple other custom ROM's I'd wager) go to Phone Options and CDMA service and look to see what's selected. Verizon specific settings are "Automatic A" or "Automatic B". In my area, the phones are set to automatic B. I suspect this setting is applied to the stock VZW rom when you program your phone with *228, but it doesn't happen on the custom ROM's.

In any case the default was still this "Standard" setting. On my TP2, changing it from Standard to auto B solved the issue.

The manual PRL update technique in this thread works well. I am ALWAYS in extended network (moved from Richmond to Mayberry) and so this issue is very close to home for me...so to speak.

With the stock rom and a *228 I get
3g service and no popup

With a custom rom and a *228 I get
1x Service and a popup

With a custom rom and an older PRL manual update (5xxxxx) I get
1x Service and no Popup

My current settings:
With a custom rom and the newest (6xxxxx) PRL I get
Ev service and no pop up

So I have settled to do the manual prl with MightyRom.

I tried Auto B with the current unmodified official PRL from *228 and still get the pop-up with MightyROM. Very confusing...

Sorry to sound like a broke record but have you seen the "Extended Network" banner on the screen and have an active or dormant data connection for at least a minute?

Yesterday i flashed 4 different ROM's all but Calkulin 1.4 gave me the popup, but i was unable to make a call with that ROM (data worked fine).

Now i am back on MightyROM 1-13 and used the custom prl from here and everything is working fine. I have the new verizon radio.

So i installed this fix and it works great. the only thing i now notice (may not be related) but my phone will not connect to palringo. It just keeps saying reconnect pending and than tries again. My data is working fine but this app stopped working. I have tried reinstalling and retyping in the password. Anybody have any ideas?

after i did the *228 and pushed 2 my palringo is now working. I am going to see if i now get the voice only errors.

I can reproduce this problem easily when I am in Canada. Next time I am up there, I will test it out and see if we can come up with a solution.

I had to travel to Canada today for work (from Michigan) and am getting this issue. Very annoying. I've tried several things in phone options, but cannot seem to get of this message popping up every few seconds.

I know this doesn't help resolve the issue, just wanted to share that it is happening to me also.

im wondering if this has anything to do with oem drivers? i know that the reason why vzw visual voicemail only plays on the speakerphone is because of oem drivers.

I just flashed to mighty roms new rom and the same thing is still happening with this prl. Does anyone have any ideas why i can not connect to palringo with this change. I don't get the notification anymore but i can not connect to palringo.

Can someone upload the PRL version 65084 for me. The newest prl update he released makes my phone go crazy with a triangle icon pops up on the taskbar on and off all the time. Making my phone lag. If someone could upload that it would be a great help.
