This has been true in the past, but it seems that the TP2 stock ROMs are reasonably fast and clean. Also, every ROM that I have tried has had some sort of bug, be it that text messages take forever to load to the phone randomly hard resetting itself.

I feel that the carriers spend much more time testing their ROMs then our chefs.

/agree (no offense to our chefs, carriers just happen to have more resources)

The biggest problems I have had with the custom ROMs has been they don't play nice with DRM and battery drain. If I was able to find a barebone ROM that was stable and didn't suffer from those two issues, I would most likely use it. However, I haven't been able to find any that work with DRM, and about half I have tried have bad power issues (as in, a 1500mAh battery dead in under 6 hours without using data, push, calls or anything. Personally like DCD's as far as being a good, stable ROM, but had both issues with his newest. Hopefully this stock 6.5 will solve most of the bugs/issues people have with the current custom ROMs.

P.S. If you feel up to it DCD, I am sure people would be very grateful for a new ROM based off of this. Even if it was more of a port than a custom ROM. I know I would willing to offer a 'toast'

I don't know about any other carriers, but my Sprint Touch Pro2 had plenty of bloat. From the Navigation that I couldn't use after a few days without coughing up $10 a month, to the TV program that gave me one free channel. There was a crappy Sprint Music store, and a terrible, terrible, terrible excuse for a Java program. I don't even think I ever got it actually running. I can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but I'm sure there was more. As for bugs, it came with the infamous text messaging unread bug, which was annoying as hell

Edit: And this is all an improvement over the original Touch Pro ROM

you just must be one of the people who fails to look at the new plans. Sprint navigation is free with the everything plans and is definitely something i use all the time, sprint tv has more then one free channel and i have watched everything from football to just listening to local radio stations at work, can't speak on java because i don't use it lol and don't know to many people that do, sprint music store is perfect if you just want to download a song fast while on the go and is very organized, and that text message bug you speak of isn't a bug learn how to open the message and actually select it so it knows you read it. I hate when people down talk something they don't fully understand. I love the "bloatware" you speak of. i pay $66 a month and get all this stuff. Other carrier wish they could match that. Quit making sprint look bad when actually they had the best full featured release of any other TP2 read the reviews and they will tell you

I don't know why you put quotes around bloatware. Are you not aware what it is?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_bloat

"is also used to describe software that comes pre-installed on a computer when it's bought, mostly consisting of time-limited trials or feature-lacking basic or "beginner" versions."

Hey, sounds like Sprint Navigation and Sprint TV to me.

And yes, it is a bug. Just because you can work around it, doesn't make it any less of a bug
