Re: Unlock Question

No, your unlock can either be HardSPL unlocked which allows you to flash other ROMs, and/or security unlocked which allows you to flash different radios and take away subsidy (GSM network) locks.

As for using it on other carriers? Short answer is no; long answer is it will take a lot of work in order for you to use a Sprint device on other CDMA carriers.

Re: Unlock Question

So HTC's handset don't have unlock codes like blackberry so you can use any SIM card of any network worldwide?

Yes they do, but your unlocking the SIM, and you can therefore use it on any other GSM network...not CDMA as your OP seemed to imply / ask.

Re: Unlock Question

There is an unlock for the phone itself, which you appear to understand, which allows you to flash custom ROMs...then there is a separate unlock for the security side, which allows you to flash a new radio, and also unlock the GSM card...as somebody eloquently stated earlier, this theoretically would allow you to use any GSM carrier once unlocked, though you'd still need to pay for the service...but you cannot use the same process to move between CDMA carriers...

Re: Unlock Question

to add to a_c_s: you can move to a different CDMA carrier with Sprint phone(verizon, metropcs, telus, etc...) but you would have to involve that carriers support, since CDMA phones work SIM-lessly (think of entire phone as a SIM card).
