I may be wrong, but I think it's been proven that such a site provides inaccurate / inconsistent results.

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

i'm consistently ranging between 500 and 800 kbps on sprint using pie on mightyrom. i'm not entirely sure why such a site would be inaccurate unless it's measuring how fast your browser loads the cache as opposed to the actual internet stream. but from the first time to the last time i've consistently gotten above 500 kbps

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

Can't tell you why, just what I recall reading. I believe speedtest.net is more reliable, and you also tend to see that snapshot on a bunch of members sigs.

This is my speed on my tp2 using jakdillards latest on opera mobile and I get consistent speeds here in nyc:

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

I think this is the earlier thread that I was basing my previous mobilespeedtest.com comments on...

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=88632

However, have a read and you''ll see that there were lots of inconsistent results from all kinds of testing sites.

You may be better off using different testing sites, at different times of the day, and coming up with an average. Too many factors to just use one site at one specific time. There are also issues with using anything other than PIE for testing???

Mines in my sig and I always clean my cache before testing. I used the 1mb test. Got a screen shot of a faster one. inaccurate...but sometimes I get a normal looking test result.

IT IS CONSISTENT ....yes this website a year ago was giving hugher results than usual....but not anymore ...they updated it a month ago , and It is very consistent , It is giving me +/-100 KBPS ....that is really precise .
and the other advantage is that it if you were using a proxy browser like opera mini , then it tells you ooops this opera mini and it is measuring your connection to the proxy not to the web . then it compares you to other opera mini users.
also It compares you to other Service providers . and where are you at regarding your speed among other users using the same network , so you know if you have further tweaks needed to your TP2 !

the results that I got are so consistent and accurate as well , and internet sharing gave close results as well .other websites are close ...but definitely this web speed engine is the most accurate in the web for now .

Pretty accurate for my area. It does seam that 3G speeds vary by location. Cant complain though. Heck the Upload is faster than my landline DSL upload.

Yeah that's definitely inaccurate...your sig is saying your connection is as good as a cable provider. There is no way you are getting that speed with EV-DO Rev.A

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

I tend to get anywhere from 1-2MBps using either Mobile Speed Test or DSL Reports. Sometimes I get higher, sometimes lower, but it's usually in that range.

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

I guess it's my area then. I'm averaging between 500kps and 700kps. I'm in the Hampton Roads area of VA and I may occationally get 1mps on a good day. But I keep seeing what people are posting in their sigs like w7excursion and IM0001 it's messing my head up. lol! I'd LOVE to have those speeds. Doubled my tcpwindow and everything. Still the same....

its not that we dont believe u, its impossible to get almost 8mbps with sprint evdo rev a...when clearly it wont surpass 3.1 b/c its where rev a stops...those readings are very inaccurate...I mean sprint itself cant handle 8mbps even with 4G lol

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

Alot of the times, when using opera, you are actually testing the speed of the opera proxy. :) ;)

exactly ....that was the speed of opera proxy engine , not sprint evdo a !
to get it accurate and honest results use a proxy free browser ( like IE ).

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

This is about average for me. I get better results and sometimes worse, but seems about right for an average. I did it with opera mini for fun once and got like 3855KBPS. This one below is using IE6. Whatcha'll think?:)

Yes I know. I never said they were realistic speeds but thats what the site gave me with the cache cleared and not using opera mini. I put it in my sig cause it looks sweet, thats all. Never got wacky results like that from dslreports and the highest I get there is around 2mb on a good day. Average is probably around 1mb.

Re: www.mobilespeedtest.com post your speed

don't laugh at my ignorance, just throwing this out...

think sprint throttles? like for high volume (lol me, bittorrent) users flagged by Comcast?

because not long ago, i was regularly seeing 1-1.5 mpbs speeds using dslreports on both my tp & tp2. now all dslreports site does is reach a certain download point and hang, so that I only see speeds of anywhere from 100 - 500 kbps.

checked my monthly usage & it's over 970,000 kilobytes with 6 days left in the billing cycle. I don't tether (wired or wirelessly) so it's strictly browsing/email/etc. i can't believe that this is a high figure for data usage.

otherwise, i have no idea why i used to enjoy 1000-1500 kbps download speeds here in the twin ciites, mn, but no longer.

so, any insight on flagging accounts for throttling based on either usage or even more sinister, those on sero like me?
