Asurion is still 50 bucks...
The Sprint policy changed to 100 bones for smart phones (they caught on).
That may be the confusion. OP is on Verizon, subzero and kris are on Sprint.

They will charge a $300 fee or something along those lines if you don't send your old phone in. Even if the old phone is way past it's end of life. The only time you don't need to send it in is when you can't, like in the case of it being stolen.

I believe they will refurbish units that they can and I guess it also limits fraud.

I'm on Sprint and the only time I have been able to keep a device is when I "lost" it and found it later.
If broken they send you an RMA package and then they hound you and threaten to charge you the purchase price of the replacement phone on your bill. They call you like every day and sometimes twice per day.

I'm just going on what my co-worder was charged when he replaced his phone after taking it out for a swim. Not to mention the OP's comment...
I'm with Sprint so it doesn't really affect me.

If that don't work I found a kit online to fix it. SUPER easy fix and it cost like 80 bucks.

Sorry...
I meant to say Asurion under Verizon and Asurion under Sprint.
My multitasking skills are lacking.
I need a soft reset. I do! Like in myself... lol

asurion claims you got 15 days to send in the "broken" phone or they will charge you I believe like $300, but i have had my replacement for over 15 days, and have not been charged the $300 and not even the $100 for the deductable. how long does it usually take to get charged? not sure why I havent got charge yet.
