Re: restoring programs through sprite on new flash

I have been using Sprite to restore everything after I flash a new rom, I have been using Merge Level 1 with no issues. If you have some things you dont want to restore to your new rom just uncheck them in the tree.
The only issue I have had is restoring did not work 100% when I went from WM6.1 to WM6.5.
If you restore and it screws things up just clear storage and try a lower merge level.

Re: restoring programs through sprite on new flash

it's worked for me on the touch pro i haven't tried it on the touch pro 2. i believe it would work on different roms if they were the same windows build, but it's probably not a good idea to do between 6.1/6.5. that might be why it always worked on the touch pro for me (i always had 6.1) but i've heard of it messing things up on the tp2 probably because of stock roms being 6.1 and custom being 6.5.x

Re: restoring programs through sprite on new flash

the only danger there, having used both Sprint and SPB, is carry traces of system and registry entries/tweaks to new ROMs where they don't belong, don't work well, or possibly even conflict...a lot of times this will work, but some times it won't...it is definitely the quickest way to upgrade ROMs and restore, but the more proper way to do it is to set up a UC folder (free program at XDA) or use Sashimi...either will auto install your cabs, program settings, etc...I use SPB just to restore my PIM data usually...

dead on that is what i was reffering tothe new tweaks that the rom will have and restoring over writing them.ill look into sashimi sounds a bit more easy to use lol.

Re: restoring programs through sprite on new flash

somebody set up a great tutorial for Sashimi on this site in the past few weeks... walks you through in detail how to set up the program... even includes references to some youtube video tutorials...real quality stuff... check that out... it takes a little effort to get it set up, but once done, you save yourself hours of customization over your lifetime of flashing custom ROMs...
