To add Sprint TEP or not

In my experience the TEP is totally worth the money. I just completed a 2 year contract, I started with a mogul (lots of bad luck there went through 8 phones in 12 months), I was upgraded to a NIB touch pro, when it died 2 weeks ago I was given a refurb that would shut off when you closed the slider, they upgraded me to a NIB Pro 2, before leaving the store with defective pro. Then when the screen on the Pro2 spider-ed after 5 days they ordered me another NIB Pro2.

My wife had a Moto Q and when it died 6 months into her contract they replaced it with a Moto Q9c, same day no additional charge.

If you have TEP and walk into a sprint store they, in my experience, take good care of you. If you are out of warranty and don't have TEP I have seen them charge alot of money for repairs if you aren't eligible for contract renewal or a phone upgrade.

I am very happy they offer it and I have it. My buddy has a Tilt with AT&T that is out of warranty and having issues, he is still in contract and not eligible for an upgrade, but AT&T doesn't offer TEP on high end phones at all so he is S.O.L.

Yeah and today IF they replaced those 8 phones UNDER the TEP plan it would cost you $800.00. And they were probably all refurbs which is why it took you 8.

If they were under 12 months and replaced under warranty for free the TEP never kicked in.

And again your bad phone that was replaced after 2 weeks, that is warranty not TEP.

MotoQ after 6 months, again that's covered under warranty.

Did you ever lose your phone, or have it stolen or dropped it and paid the deductable?

Don't mix apples and oranges.

They also tend not to be so generous if you have a SERO plan as well.

Since most of us get the itch to replace phones after a year. The warranty part of the TEP never kicks in. It really is covering lost, stolen or dropped in a toilet. Do you need to pay $84/year for that then go for it.

Soooo.... He got a TP2 for 100 bucks and a Q9c + $168 worth of monthly premiums.
Not a bad deal.

Well I didn't examine it with a fine tooth comb. But most of it should have been FREE under warranty even with NO TEP PLAN.

Not to mention going through like 10 phones would be nightmare. Partly because most were all marginal refurbs.

A lot of this all depends on your plans. If you have like a $100.00/mo plan they will often do what ever you ask regardless of TEP.

What if your new car was totalled and then they replaced it with a used one of equal value. And charged you a deductable that is about 1/3 the value of the car.

Well I cracked my screen, no TEP. I use to have TEP, I thought I told the sprint rep when I bought my phone to add it, but it's not there. Oh well

I might buy a replacement lcd screen on ebay. This definitely sucks.

you have 30 days from time of purchase to add it, or if its past 30 days you can tell them it was supposed to be added whenever you got your phone and theyll back charge you the months you should have had it. Or you can add it whenever you swap ESNs...so if you have an old phone.....well you should know what to do from there

They put in a claim to assurion saying that I said that Sprint didn't add it.

You are saying if I swap the ESN to my Moto Q and then back to the Touch Pro 2 i can then add TEP?

They told me I have to challenge the rule and have an exception made, and then let me know the ramifications of insurance fraud.

It's like 15 days past the initial 30 days.
