Yes it was wrong but its a beta and i gave up on searching for "perfect" gps years ago - none of them are or ever will be, but you have to recognise the potential. My point is if tomtom, garmin and others took such a big hit on market after google annouced a raw beta of their navigation software thats only available on droid phones(and only 2.0 officially) what kind of hit can we expect when and if goog anounces a standalone unit with preloaded maps and those features or a free downloadable nav soft for all patforms?

Anyways enough of this, i beleive i made my point and if people want to argue at least read all my previous posts on this matter and not just the last one. This thread was opened to help a fellow ppcgeeker find a free navigation soft and maybe further discussions should be closer to the subject.
So wait, you're predicting all of these companies go out of business because the stock price went down one day????

as for your searching for theaters open during certain hours- uh, Bing DOES do that. Bing lists all the theaters in your area, and you can search movies by start time if you want. This is nothing new.

You know, just about all of the features you are talking about are available in any standard GPS app. Tom Tom is also online with current and live info- and offline. Heck, even Sprint Navigation is online with current and live info. And it's even free on most Sprint plans these days. How many people have Sprint navigator and still have another GPS app?

My prediction is based on history- google navigation probably won't put anyone out of business. If they give it away, then everyone else will offer features that make people want to pay for theirs instead. And if the stock price drops other investors will look to pick it up while it's cheap.

Re: How to get a FREE Navigator for your Touch Pro2.

Bing gives real turn by turn at the bottom with an audible "BING" - lol - just before a turn. Keep up the post David, it is nice to see someone so young on here posting and not just lurking. If I may - I have found a way to get routed with one or 2 less steps.

The only problem with the current version of Bing (but supposedly not the newest one) is that it does not grab your location upon opening. You have to do the hoaky change location EVERY TIME. Here is what I do to cut that out:

Open bing
choose direction
set your destination (type it or speak it - awesome)
ignore start point
choose get directions
choose show map
choose menu then track my location
It will prompt you to route from current location, just choose yes

______________________________________________
I know this seems like an annoying list, but it all takes just a moment and lets you skip the first few steps of updating location

One last thing - I am thinking of writing a mortscript that opens Bing, updates location and chooses OK to get you back to home screen all in one click. I am atthe firehouse tonite and if it is slow I might do it tonite. If anyone is interest I will post it

I agree that Bing is superior to google maps - it has more features and actually navigates.

Like what?

Humor me and name something.

I have used just about every major gps software out there for mobiles, and they have been doing what google navigator does for years.

Also, Bing was doing the WEAK GPS thing back on the Mogul when it was called Live Search.

This is all IMHO.
Sprint navigation is not free and is quite pricey. Im on SERO, so I no getty the Sprint navi stuff.

idk how often they do, but they seem pretty updated. the maps are not downloaded to your phone they are on the internet, so if they are updated you dont have to do anything

So, as of June 2010, what is the best FREE turn-by-turn navigator available for the Sprint Touch Pro2 ?????

I thought the TP2 has a built in GPS device. Do we even NEED a data plan to be able to run a free turn-by-turn navigator?

I just realized that Sprint LIED to me and has been charging me $10 every month for Sprint Navigator on TOP of my unlimited plan.

Thanks.
