Sprint TP2 + Chicago "EL"

Fellow enthusiasts-

I have a question about using the Sprint Touch Pro 2 on the CTA in Chicago Illinois. Every time I am on the "EL" my phone switches to roaming and detects the US Cellular network but for whatever reason I can not complete calls or texts. I remember way back when I was using my Mogul that I was able to sidestep this and in fact use my phone while on the "EL". Can anyone point me in the right direction to work around this?

Thanks in advanced!

Doesn't USC provide the wireless access underground? I've never had a problem with text/data when roaming down there (on the TP1) never tried on the TP2. You don't have roam guard on or anything do you?

No I have all the roam provisioning turned off to not interfere.

Have you done this recently? I recall reading a while ago that while Sprint formerly roamed on USC in the Chicago subways it no longer worked. I have two daughters in Chicago on Sprint who don't get signal down there.

Not since the summer of the previous year - been driving since then. Worked fine on the blue line from downtown all the way out to O'Hare.

However this thread seems to shed some more light on the topic:
http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/arc.../t-173885.html

Looks like USC stopped allowing voice/data for Sprint users around the time that vzw put service down there.

Yeah, that's what I recall reading. I don't think anyone ever figured out a way around this.
