no amount of software will cure the lag its a hardware issue.

Re: Has the GPS lag problem been fixed with custom roms?
Simply NOT true... Using Tom Tom on 4 seperate Verizon TP2's, and the GPS Gate fix running in the background has all but cured my problem. The lag with Tom Tom was at least 5-10 seconds behind and now is 1 second behind. I don't care how fast I'm going on the Highway that is good enough to not miss any turns. I agree the core problem might be hardware related, but CLEARLY software makes it usable.

so me saying the lag is caused ultimately by a hardware issue, and no amount of software will rid you of it completely is simply VERY true. |

I was just trying to illustrate that even though the hardware is flawed, software can be written to "Cure" the problem. Cure being a relative word in the first place. Cure in this case meaning usable to the end user. You can never say no lag on any device, as there is lag with everything, it just may be negligible as you put it. |

However GoogleMaps didn't have this issue because it connected to the GPS device using a different interface (same interface GPSGate uses). The TP2 has the same chips as the Diamond so I question that it's a "hardware" issue.
