VZW 6.5 ROM Update w/ New Radio Is out. If you don't want to reflash the entire phone you can do just the radio. Someone extracted the newer radio version here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=91940.

I installed the new radio and it seems to be working fine. Time will tell if the phone stays in 3G/EV data. Lately the 1X probably has been really bad. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I just got my TP2 a couple days ago to replace the 5th TP1 that I regretfully purchased in July. I am so happy I persisted in bugging them until they caved and upgraded me.

Anyway, I was having problems with being stuck in 1x, but the problem was that there was no or very poor evdo signal where I was. I am now sitting in a spot where my TP1 would lock onto 1x and not budge in hybrid mode and the TP2 is running 3g, so I guess I don’t have the problem. Also, the radio in the TP2 kicks ass, I am getting signal where I never could before.

Well, i am back to stuck in 1x. Interesting that before i lost, evdo i ran a speed check and it was only ~60kbs; 1x was also ~60kbs.
I am a little worried now. i was talking to vzw last night about a broadband card and she looked at my account. She asked if i was using my phone as a modem, which i have not. She was shocked to see that i have used 9GB of data halfway through my billing cycle. She said that she has never seen use like that on a phone.
Now i wonder if they have crippled my account or something because i cannot get a fast connection today.

If you really are tethering, then they probably did limit your account.

Getting back to the original topic... this problem seems to have gone away since the new VZW Radio 2.23. Hope everyone is having the same outcome as I am!

don't have the problem with data, only on voice calls, i'm in Dallas Tx.

your phone HAS to drop to 1X to make a phone call.

You don't have the problem. Your phone has ALWAYS dropped to 1X to make a call and WILL ALWAYS drop to 1X to do CALLS and TXT msgs.

If you read the thread or any of the other threads about this issue, you would know this.
