3.5mm Jack

Does the 3.5mm jack have a mic input as well as audio out? I would like to use an external mic for sound measurements and use the stereo out for pink noise generation.

There is the original HTC data plug that has all the adapters in one unit but I would like to just use the 3.5mm if possible.

Also, when I tried to plug in a generic set of ear buds it would activate my voice command at odd times. Anyone figure out why yet?
