OK thanks. How do you choose between the 2? Is there a mechanical switch? Or in the software is there the option to choose which, then reboot??

Go to your dial pad, then open the menu and select options. There's a Network tab. You can select CDMA, GSM/UMTS, or Global.

Under your phone settings there is an option for cdma only, global, or gsm only. If you select cdma only then obviously you will just be in cdma same goes for gsm only. If you select global then it will default to cdma first even if its roaming and if it can't find any cdma signals at all then it will switch to gsm.
