Deleting Emails on TP2 to Tell Mail Server to Delete That Email?

Hey folks, I'm trying to figure out how to get my TP2 to act the way my TP1 did.

So, here's my old set-up:

Touch Pro (Sprint) would download email from my pop server (verizon.net) and was set up to leave a copy on server. If I deleted an email that my TP downloaded, and then later did a send/receive, it would somehow tell my mail server to delete that email even though "leave a copy on server" was selected. I knew this was happening because when I dumped emails onto my desktop (not set to leave a copy on server), the emails I had deleted on my TP would not download.

So, how in the heck was this happening? Did I have some other configuration than above?

Does anyone know if & how to replicate this set-up on the TP2?

Btw: My TP1 was a stock Sprint Rom; my Sprint TP2 is MightyRom's.
