Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

I've been using my mobile shell on my touch pro since I got it, and I've become some accustomed to it so naturally it was my first purchase for my TP2. I've mainly used energy rom for the programs and the tweaks but never really for the touchflo part of it. When it was upgraded to 6.5 I thought the task bars were amazing working in part with mobile shell since the X out was at the bottom and my big fingers couldn't hit the close out so well.

So I was wondering does anyone use mobile shell on their TP2, and did you stick with stock ROM or did you change it? Is there any WM 6.5 rom with the task bars I enjoyed that I should upgrade to, and is there a way to disable everything outside of the shell but keeping the task bars and buttons?

Since it's my first post I would like to thank everybody at PPCgeeks for making my touch pro 1 and 2 experiences awesome.

Thanks in advance,
Corey

I used MS 3.5 on my Tp1 and now on my Tp2

I have stuck with the AT&T STOCK ROM 6.5 and have seen very few problems with this ROM (after i did some tweaking..) (I am also currently using PhoneEX 2)

I will probably FLASH in the future, but this device works so sweet I am not in any hurry to flash..

Now my Tp1 [fuze] (i had to flash just to make it usable)

Re: Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

I have been using Mobile Shell since 3.0 on my original Touch and have 3.5.1 on my TP2. I love it because it lets me put my most used items right on my home page, reducing the number of steps I need to take to get stuff done.

I am keeping my stock (with cleanup) Sprint ROM. I need my phone to work for corporate email and general communication and it seems like all of the ROMs have one problem or another.

However, if Sprint doesn't offer an option of a 6.5.1 upgrade in the next few months, I might dive in to the world of custom ROMs. Then again, I am hoping for some HD2 love from Sprint by then.

Re: Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

I've used Mobile Shell since my Mogul. I made a stripped ROM with erice's kitchen, but used the 6.5 SYS, not 6.5.1 ... the button's at the bottom overlap and cause problems with MS. I know there is a fix for this somewhere, just haven't read all about it yet. I'll probably look into it in a week or so when my schedule loosens up.

Re: Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

I've been an avid fan and promoter of SPB MS for some time. I only started using it since version 3.0, but used it on my TP1, Treo Pro (not very nice), and then with my stock TP2. I love the app personally. I have to state that I preferred it over TF3D 2.1 because it provided a lot more customization and allowed me to see my calendar the way I wanted to see it -for the most part. Manilla popped up a couple of items on the home tab, and then the calendar was a lousy month view only (perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps there were tweaks -I don't know).

However, I'm now using Juicy's R2 rom and it comes with Sense UI (TF 2.5). I've got to say that I haven't bothered reinstalling MobileShell since. It adds a lot more features, including quick links on the home tab to programs, contacts, etc. And the calendar is much improved...with a great agenda view.

It's early days. Perhaps I'll go back to MS, but for now I'm happy playing with TF 2.5.

Just my opinions and preferences only. Everyone will always have different reasons for using their favourite UI. It's what works for you.

Re: Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

I used MS 3.5 with Mskips Proplus Elegance over it. I love the smoothness and all the widgets he designed. I am still on the stock rom, only because right now everything is running so wonderful on my TP2. This phone is a far cry from the TP1!!! I only wish I could find a way to add more then 1 birthday to a contact (wife, kids) to better enhance the birthday widget in MS 3.5.

Re: Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

The only problem with MS 3.5 are the problems with the rhodium dialer. You can't click on contacts from the dial pad for instance and get your contacts. Clicking on it just does nothing. You can't press a couple other buttons either. There listed in these forums. If you can deal with those bugs, and spb has said they know about these bugs and haven't done anything, then it's great. OTW, I had it for about a month, then couldn't deal anymore

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

While in the dailer you can hit the start menu and contacts are listed there. Even so MS 3.5 is still awesome and will be fixed soon. Great buy!

Re: Touch Pro 2 and SPB Mobile Shell 3.5

The fix for 6.5.1 menu bar block is supposedly to delete the PositionFix shortcut from \windows\startup and reset. Haven't tried it as I am also satisfied for the moment with Juicy R2 and Sense UI 2.5 with bignadad's overlay.

Just note that this fix supposedly also eliminates the windows soft start button in the lower left of the menu bar, but I guess you can just use the hard button instead.
