Help me disable this message please!

Is there anyway to disable this message :

Quote:

"Device is registering on a voice service only network. Data services are currently unavailable."
When I am home my service fades in and out of EV/1x and the message constantly pops up and beeps. I was hoping there was a way to get rid of it or someone vould make a cab similar to the "sms sent" cab. Thanks for any help guys!

Under "sound notifications" there's a box for warning sounds. Did you try unticking that? Thats all I can think of this early.

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I too am having this exact problem. Using Verizon Touch Pro 2, used the HSPL unlocker on Friday, now have WM 6.5 and MightyROM. This message is INCESSANT, pretty much every time I send/receive a text (which is A LOT). I'd be most interested in figuring out where this message is in the registry (like the SMSNoSentMsg registry change).

bump

sorry but I really want to fix this as its basicly making using my phone REALLY frustrating. I have tried searching google/this forum/other forums and yet to find a solution to this damn pop up msg. I did find a where this was posted in the mighty rom thread and someone said to try *288 again and this does not fix it for me.

Iv tried soft reseting/hard resetting/doing *228 before I install the vzw cab and did cab then *228 and yet this thing still pops up every 5 secs if I jump into 1x. Im about to pull my hair out ](*,)](*,)](*,)

Yeah no luck so far here either. I would love it if someone would put out a disable cab for this message.

+1 on requesting a reg hack or cab to disable this message.

My question is this only affecting a small percent of people? Because I would think with so many people on this forum more people would be posting about this.

Re: Help me disable this message please!

Well, I'm sorry to hear that more people are having this issue. Since it's been driving me nuts, ever since I have flashed a custom rom. From the day the unlocker came out.

I have asked in multiple knowledgable locations on the net and have gotten nowhere.

I am now on a mission to find the registry setting that needs to be modified to make it STOPPPP!!!!

If anyone else has any input on this at all, please help us!

I was really hoping I had screwed something up in my provisioning or something. Or that flashing the latest Mightyrom would correct the issue. No such luck, it appears.

So, +1 for a fix, reg. edit, .cab or something to kill that notification. I know when I'm in 1X, that's what the 1X and EV icons are for. I really dont wanna have to hit "ok", every few minutes in spotty areas. Very annoying and distracting from what I'm trying to do.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone?

Sorry, gotta bump this, as it needs attention.

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I agree. I'm roaming right now, and it's popping up every 5-10 seconds on Juicy's ROM.

santod 11-17-2009 04:32 PM

Re: Help me disable this message please!

Ok, this keeps getting buried and I am struggling to find a solution. I would be very satisfied, to just suppress the popup notification. However I have tried many registry edits so far without any luck!

If anyone else could shed some light on how to stop this major annoyance, I and others would be most grateful.

I am pretty shocked that this is not a more widespread issue.

Anyone else having this same issue?

Anyone have a solution?

I'm up for trying just about anything to make it stop. Considering going back to stock until it's fixed! Never thought I'd say that!

To the rest of you with this issue, please help keep this thread in focus, as it needs more attention!

Thanks to anyone willing to try and help!! Truly!

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I couldn't agree more. I had to flash back to the stock ROM last night because it made my phone totally unusable while I'm roaming in Canada. I couldn't find any registry setting that would suppress it.

***!!!!!!FIXED!!!!!!***

Ok, after many hours of frustration with this darn popup notification, I have finally found a very very simple way to stop it.

Settings>Personal>Phone>CDMA Services>Network Service>
Change to Home Only (done!)

So far, I have noticed no negative impact on my reception or signal and have not had the popup once. It was doing it several times per minute, just sitting here on my desk, right before I changed that. So, that is what is causing it and is a simple fix and easily reversed.

So, I may leave mine that way 100% of the time if it doesn't hurt my reception where I go.

However if it seems to impact my ability to receive a signal in certain places, then I will simply set it back to STANDARD.

I hope this helps others who are having this annoying issue!:)

Re: Help me disable this message please!

That's a great fix until you have to roam somewhere :(

Did you have a weak Verizon signal where this was occurring?

santod 11-17-2009 05:19 PM

Re: Help me disable this message please!

Yes, it happens in weak signal areas, like my house.

It still goes into 1X, just as it did before. Which is actually using USCC tower when it does that. So, I don't think the roaming will be an issue. VZW technically doesn't roam anyway. It's either you are connected to their "extended" network or you have no service.

If I am wrong about that, please inform me otherwise. Also, like I said, it's easy to switch it back when needed. Much faster and easier then clearing the notification 100 times a day.](*,)

If anyone has any other solutions or suggestions, I'm all ears.http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:q...ia/bigears.jpg

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I'm not sure what they call it, all I know is that once I got to Canada the warning popped up every 5 seconds and my roaming triangle came on. Switching the setting to Home Only caused me to have no service at all (that's one of the things I tried). In Seattle I remember this happening less frequently when I went into a parking garage or something. The roaming triangle didn't come on but I assumed it was picking up a Sprint tower in that situation. In Canada I'm probably roaming and in Seattle I was probably picking up their extended network. I agree, if you don't travel outside the US, or go into an extended coverage area, you probably won't care about this too much. Unfortunately I do both.

santod 11-17-2009 05:36 PM

Re: Help me disable this message please!

That's just it though, my phone would say Extended Network every time that message popped up. Now it doesn't pop up at all and it stays connected to Verizon. But I see what you're saying. However I have never had a roaming triangle, unless I was using another carriers PRL, PRI, and radio.

Such as when I first put my Sprint TP1 on the Verizon network.

Anyway, I'm open to any other suggestions, but for now I'm at least pacified with my simple fix, until someone figures out another way.

It sure doesn't stand out in the registry, anywhere! I have no problem finding all other notifications, just not this one.

8notime 11-17-2009 08:48 PM

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I'm glad you found a solution for where you're at.

However, I really hope someone figures this out because I really need to be able to use my phone in Canada and Mexico.

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I just posted this on another problem data connections. I did tell the rom maker about this issue and the person didn't think it was something he needed to address.

When I put the verizon rom back on temporarily, I noticed that verizons rom also has a 2nd connection I think it's for data, but it's not included in any roms.

It goes like this:

Embeded/VZW (connection name)
emgsm.vzw3g.com (connection address)
Password: Can't tell you. it was **** out.

This would fix a whole lot of issues i've been reading about some people including me with data issues. I THINK can't sware to it, but had no issues when it was on.

Those popups are getting rediculous. click one away nother pops up before you can do anything.

I tried that already. didn't fix the issue

Re: Help me disable this message please!

Wow, you still get the popup after changing what I mentioned?

I am really surprised, as it has been hours now with no popup. Where before, I couldn't go 10 minutes at my house without hitting ok, ok, ok, ok...........
to constantly close it out.

I also have spent probably 90% more time in EV then ever before!!!! I can live with that side effect for sure!

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I flashed to the WM 6.5.1 titanium SYS build 23506.5.50 then went on a business trip to Denver and Little Rock. I did have times when i would go between EV and 1x and also times i would get the triangle. However I never got a pop up window the entire trips. I have no idea what is different about this ROM but it is a prtty good CLEAN ROM. Hopfuly this is helpful in some way.

Re: Help me disable this message please!

Thanks CrozB, but I think somehow only Verizon users have experienced this issue.

I think it is related to the settings being different now for Home, Automatic A, and Automatic B. As the options now are, Home or Standard.

Not sure why it is different now. I know before, with my TP1, Verizon always made sure I had it set to Automatic B. There is no Automatic B now. So, I don't know, it's weird!

I am also experiencing the problem, with Verizon TP2 and MightyRom 11/16 release. It's really awful, it makes the phone unusable in any fringe areas! Would love a fix!

On Verizon with latetst Mighty Rom.

thanks!

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I don't know if there is a real way to test it. Other then to go where you know the coverage is spotty at best and see if it comes up. Maybe hide deep in a cellar or something. LOL! Whatever it takes to throw you into 1X, while trying to use the internet. That's all it took for me to get the popup.

I'm so glad I haven't had to look at that annoying thing anymore. Definitely the most annoying bug I have ever had on any WinMo device!

Does anybody have this issue with a Stock Verizon ROM?

eth3rton 11-21-2009 04:06 PM

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I never seen the message prior to flashing a custom ROM. ](*,)

santod 11-21-2009 04:41 PM

Re: Help me disable this message please!

This problem is strictly associated to custom roms on Verizon, according to all reports of it that I have seen.

I also never had the issue before flashing a custom rom.

I would also like to find out, and should probably ask MightyMike, why when tapping on Data connection, even after running VZW provisioning, it has no VZW as a choice for network setup. It is set to Vodaphone as carrier and the Netherlands as country. If I change it to USA, there is no option for VZW under the carriers list. So, apparently these settings are GSM based and am not sure if they may somehow be causing this conflict in the system.

Anyone with more info, please share.

Everyone having this problem I suggest to turn off the System Notification/Events Sounds in the system menu. The warning will disappear by itself and with that disabled you won't get the annoying beep every time it warns you....

Re: Help me disable this message please!

I would not change it to home only because it will disable your roaming outside your "home area". I have not had that issue yet, but why dont you try to change from global to cdma only under network and let me know if it works.

Re: Help me disable this message please!

In reading your post, Some info I have written down & can't remember if I found it on the phone or another place.

us-country 310
network - auto
modem#777

I had noticed that there are several us country codes and my guess is it would be which part of the us you are in?
