Moving them off the storage card should help a lot. You could also try reducing their size and/or quality.

hmm.. good idea. ill change the folder to main memory.
but i actualy have another question. how do you perminitly change the icon? like so even in all programs it changes as well. not just on the fav list?? and can one icon 96x96 be used both for favs and all programs list. cause the all programs list the icons are smaller.. any help would be great! THANKS!

Some GUI's like the shortcuts page can be configured to override the default icon. To change the default icons require a bit of hacking. They are most often encoded with the program's exe file or an accompanying resource dll file. Tsowen's custom taskbar thread might be a good place to get you started. It specifically talks about the taskbar icons, but the concepts are the same.
In general, icons will scale, so you can use just the one.

dam sounds complicated and hard.. ill just stick with my shortcut icons. and try moving the icon folder to main memory. thanks man!
