Re: Touch Pro2 a stopgap?
I can understand using the same processor within the same generation, but they used the 7500 in the mogul, the 7501A in the Diamond/TP and the 7600 in the TP2.. all are basically the same processor (7600 and 7501A are higher clocked version s and 7600 has support for GSM networks) which is THREE generations. There have been better ones out for awhile.. like the Snapdragon, which has been around long enough to be put in this generation. If WM7 doesnt kickass, as well as the hardware kickass, im willing to take a hit just so i can make the phone usable all the time. Im a very patient person.. and the UI hangups and quirkiness I get on this thing are just plain awful. Its a disgrace 3 years after the iphone first debuted how far behind the interface (and hardware processor wise) is.

The TP2 also has more RAM than an iPhone, and a higher resolution screen. Not sure how anyone can say the TP2 is behind the iPhone in terms of hardware...

Re: Touch Pro2 a stopgap?
if you dont like it you have/had time to return it. stop cryin.
im pretty sure, (if you are smart anyways) you looked up or saw the stats on the phone before you blindly purchased it, you should have been able to tell what was upgraded and what is the same. on paper it s pretty much the same but a blind man can see this thing is definitly leaps and bounds over last years device. from responsiveness to volume to screen size and 3.5 jack, all around imporovement. of course the os side is lacking but nothing a little hspl cant fix once released Last edited by newone757; 10-29-2009 at 07:27 PM. |

Re: Touch Pro2 a stopgap?
I knew exactly what the stats were before I bought it. I bought this device because it was an improvement over the Diamond and because i knew WM7 devices werent coming out for another year AT LEAST. Im not returning it.. im going to load a custom 6.5 or 6.5.1 ROM on it and be less pissed about it.
Also, the iphone proc has 75mhz more clock speed but you are also comparing an ARM Cortex A8 to an ARM11 proc.. hardly apples and apples.. Plus the RAM doesnt matter as much since it doesnt really multitask.. but its programs can consume more of it individually.. plus it has OpenGL. 6.5 or 6.5.1 will probably fix most of my complaints.. 6.1 is just utter crap. The only 2 things this OS has over the iphone OS is the ability to side load apps and multitasking, too HUGE pros in my book... dealbreakers actually. But WM better watch out.. Android is maturing very quickly. |

Technically Sprint gives you 30 days to return it, but then they hold your money for another 45 days after that (assuming you go to another carrier). So in my case I just forked out 2 grand to get 4 Touch Pro 2's on a family plan. Now that I got them, I found out that Bing doesn't work correctly (I have been using a GSM version on AT&T and Bing worked great), and also the conference calling feature has been removed (I guess it doesn't work with CDMA). And there is really no way I could have known about this before hand, because no Sprint stores have the Touch Pro 2 in stock. The only way to see one is to actually order it. So I could technically leave Sprint and get the T-Mobile version. But I'd have to fork out another 2 grand, while giving Sprint an interest free loan for 45 days. I guess that is more a carrier issue than a device issue though. However, it does explain why returning it might not be as simple as you say. |
