Re: Sometimes my TP2 won't turn on !

I've had this exact same issue as well. Reverting back to OEM SPL and ROM has helped, so it seems, but I'd love to know the root issue.

Once the screen is turned off in any fashion, either from talking on the phone, or pressing the power button, the screen would not turn back on. I could still double-tap the phone button to call the last dialed and it worked. Keys were still backlit as well. Only a soft reset would make the device usable again. This started up on afternoon. Thinking it was a new ROM issue I reverted back to some older ROMs I had used (NRG ROMS) that previously functioned fine. The problem still existed.

I've reverted everything back to stock SPL and ROM in anticipation of taking the phone in for repair -- after that the issue became less frequent.

I have had this problem at times. The last time it turned out to be Mortplayer's fault. The auto-off setting was KEEPING it off, to the point where I had to soft reset to get it back on. Removed the program & it worked fine. If nobody has suggested it so far, try reinstalling your apps one by one & see if one of them is causing it.

I started having this problem today. I have a clean install of the latest Mightyrom. This has been flawless until about two hours ago. If the screen turns off it will not turn on again without a soft reset.

Wow i thought it was just me... it happened to be the first day i got my touch pro but my ego was to high to tell anyone. and it happens mostly when its hooked up to the usb. but it has happened other times too it probably has to do with the sucky amount of running program...

Re: Sometimes my TP2 won't turn on !

Hi All - it's gotta be hardware only - this backlight problem has come up in various forums, and until now i haven't been able to find a conclusive answer. But this I know - I have done everything advised everywhere, over many many hours, and I'm now back to the Sprint stock rom, stock everything, and the backlight will not come back on once it's turned off. So, based on this evidence and what I've seen in this and other postings, it's a hardware thing. Fortunately, I have the insurance, but I am not paying a deductible - this is a faulty hardware thing, not my fault. Thanks for posting your ideas, and good luck!!

Yup - brought it in, Sprint's replacing it. hardware issue, not fixable, according to tech. Should get new one tuesday or wednesday. sad, it's a great phone otherwise.

Solved?

Your situation suggests plugging an audio jack or USB cable back in? Reconnecting whatever you disconnected as the phone went into standby? What about situations when nothing was plugged in or no programs were running? If it failed to wake due to a running process or program, how do you go back and "undue it" as you suggest?

Please take no offense. I don't want to seem ungrateful for your efforts or snide... but I think announcing this issue has been "Solved" is a bit premature.
