Out of range of GPS? You were still on Earth, correct? |

Re: Use GPS in Airplane Mode?
The agps story makes a lot of sense. That would explain why it worked better on a short puddle jumper when I left the phone on and it stayed in and out of signal but got very intermittent signal on a cross country flight at a higher elevation with no signal most of the way. Was kind of cool to see the flight paths and plane speed. Now I just need to get a map program with very zoomed out satellite images to track me like google but that doesn't need a data program. Thanks again everyone.

Re: Use GPS in Airplane Mode?
This would be helpful in case you have to let the pilots know they over flew the airport by 150miles

Re: Use GPS in Airplane Mode?
I can't get Google Maps to work on the plane. Google requires the cellular network, I think to get the maps. I have Google set to use satellites and not tower triangulations.
Anyone have a workaround for this? Lenny Last edited by lwleedy; 11-12-2009 at 10:40 AM. |

I just got back from Vegas and I tested this out with CoPilot and it worked like a charm. You do have to be close to the window though but it showed us going over 450 MPH! |
