TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
Hey everyone, sorry not too frequent of a poster, but I just got off the line with Verizon Customer Service (for lack of a better word) and they informed me that the Touch Pro 2 will no longer be continued and that the Imagio is the replacement for it.
Anyone else have this experience today when calling Verizon? I've been calling every few hours checking incoming stock for a TP2. |
Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
I don't buy that, they are basically the exact same phone just minus the hardware KB. I think the tech was clueless (a lot of them are)

Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
I think your rep is confused.

Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
I hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiighly doubt this...
... but would Verizon be THAT far off their base if this was actually true? No.... :( |
Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
let's hope not...though I wouldn't mind if vzw just said
oh well the touch pro 2 will be replaced with a touch pro 3 next year |

As a rep I garuntee that the rep you spoke with was confused or mis-informed. We simply didnt expect for the phone to be Such a hit since the last TP sold so little. we are still recieving orders and even some warehouses have it in though they are almost depleted as well. We will get more in soon just wait for it. If anything we will order a bigger volume than before and release thoughs with an update but dont quote me on that last part as demand may meen the phones update will release online and wont ship with the phone for awhile and software testing I dont believe is finished yet either. |

This kind of stuff is the reason I left Verizon in the first place, just to get folded back in...There is no consistency within this business.

just edited my post but still as for the warehouse we can only see the (regions) its available in. best way is to find a few zips from around the country and try them out. also they may sell out even while we are posting. Keep looking and if everything did sell out then give it a few more days and keep checking in. on a side note make sure your checking in as some of our shipments had sold out in a day or 2. |
Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
Just spoke to a retail store rep and they confirmed also that once the Verizon stock of TP2 is sold out (what ever they have left coming in), that its being replaced by the Imagio.

also...what company is consistant in the wireless industry? sprint just bought a ton of phone out of desperation of possible bankruptcy, AT&T seem to not know what they are doing with thier wireless network with 4g coming so late and 3g barely being expanded, T-Mobile just had that drastic data outage on sidekick devices and alot of thier advance devices dont support thier on current 3g. The only one that was probably "consistant" was Alltel but we know what happened with that. If you want a company that is consistant then your only hope is possibly a landline company or a regional company. |

Where is the "No Thanks" button when you need it?

This will be alittle off topic and I already posted something about alltel conversions in the carrier discussion thread but since im using my tp2 to post all this anyways I dont feel like posting the link when not at my desk Flavor for the rest of the year will be if you are under an alltel plan and alltel phone that alot of locations and centers will move your upgrade time for you to purchase a new phone and 2 year contract. Now some locations Can refuse as technically not an "official" policy but I personally have hadover 5 accounts moved withen the month with appropriate approval. |
Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
Ok this guy "Isor" is telling Verizon customers that your phone will no longer be carried.. So if your with Verizon are you not just a tad bit concerned...Why not call the call center, corporate office or store to verify what he is saying.....I don't really care because i am with sprint, but if i had Verizon i would take what he is saying into account and call to see if he is bluffing or if your phone has become outdated in a month.

Not trying to say you have something to gain just the same as I have nothing to gain about the TP2 since I already have one. Its just for the years ive been working at Verizon I never seen or heard of discontinuing a phone that is Acually Selling! within a month of it selling. Not to mention just yesterday I read our internal reports that we will be recieving further shipment. anyways again ill confirm in an hour anyways |

Haha this just makes me laugh, the TP3 will probably be here by march 2010 at the rate these companies are throwing phones at us. Even though in some ways it's pretty cool.

Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio
They are not going to "replace" a smartphone with a HW keyboard with a soft keyboard version. There is no reason for them to discontinue the TP2. It s a solid phone. Verizon learned from it's mistake when they tried to sell a crippled TouchPro.
While the VCast feature is nice, the TP2 is it's own phone & is selling well above the expectations of Verizon, which is why it is out of stock. Spreading rumors regarding the TP2's impending "doom" is silly & completely without merit. |

as internal reports state "Due to over whelming demand, inventory is extremely constrained for the HTC Touch Pro2. VZW DCs are getting supplies weekly, but currently can not keep up with demand." "This item will remain DFILL only." "Please check inventory daily." |

VZW knows there is always a market for a Touchscreen WinMo phone with a hardware keyboard...that is why they always kept the 6700, 6800, and 6850 around, even when touchscreen only variants were available. Just calm the heck down. The TP2 is here to stay. |

I plan on ordering the Droid when it comes out, but I'd like to get a TP2. I've already got a TP2 within my household, and would like to have one of my own should I not like the Droid. |
