Re: TP2 Being replaced by the Imagio

They are not going to "replace" a smartphone with a HW keyboard with a soft keyboard version. There is no reason for them to discontinue the TP2. It s a solid phone. Verizon learned from it's mistake when they tried to sell a crippled TouchPro.

While the VCast feature is nice, the TP2 is it's own phone & is selling well above the expectations of Verizon, which is why it is out of stock. Spreading rumors regarding the TP2's impending "doom" is silly & completely without merit.

it is also worth mentioning that Verizon's price point being so much lower is switching alot of customers over (myself included). all 4 major US carriers now sell this phone and Verizon is getting more orders than they can handle. there's absolutely no reason for Verizon to want to cut off so many potential customers.

I've spoken with 3 CS reps and my Account manager from the business division (which I have never had a single issue with, and they have always been consistent and well-informed) over the last 2 weeks getting my TP2 replaced, and everyone mentioned how quickly it sold and how hard they were trying to get replacement stock in. It is not being replaced by the Imagio.

VZW knows there is always a market for a Touchscreen WinMo phone with a hardware keyboard...that is why they always kept the 6700, 6800, and 6850 around, even when touchscreen only variants were available.

Just calm the heck down. The TP2 is here to stay.

I understand the demand, but the Droid is coming out in the next 3 weeks or so...Faster processor, better OS...Why not replace the TP2 if you simply can't keep supply.

Because they cant keep supply due to demand for this phone! VZW is in the business to make money so why would they stop selling a phone they are selling like hotcakes?? Think about it. The person you spoke with fed you a like of bull...

Well Isror, if you think the Droid is a better OS then get it. Why would they want to get rid with the hottest phone out? The reason that they are out of stock is that the Touch Pro was so crippled that Verizon customers are willing to spend full price for the phone and everyone else is fighting to get this phone.

No kidding old facts are old, that was the reason I left Verizon was because they gimped the TP1, and still tried to charge me full price to upgrade to it. It was cheaper for me to leave Verizon, pay the early termination fee and go to Alltel, get a fully functional TP1 and a better contract.

I plan on ordering the Droid when it comes out, but I'd like to get a TP2. I've already got a TP2 within my household, and would like to have one of my own should I not like the Droid.

Now you seem to be trolling. No one can confirm your report. In fact they are confirming the opposite. Now you almost seem to be trying to talk people into why it should be true.

I'll answer you question then I won't be viewint this thread again.

1) Not everyone wants a different OS. A better version of the OS they use... sure. Different... not everyone.

2) Faster Processor.... How fast would a electric chair need to electrocute its occupant to be effective? If your not using the OS... what does it matter how fast it is, or what it looks like?

3) Why not replace the TP2? Gee I dunno, cus you've got a proven seller? Cus VZW is a business? Cus it would be silly? I've often wondered why Dominos still sells pizzas. If they sold cookies I'd bet they'd sell less and not have nearly the problem delivering them?

I'm not trying to troll. I was simply asking if users had called in and gotten the same information I was given. Reading is fundamental, and apparently that isn't coming across in this thread. The question was has anyone else been told by a Verizon rep. that the Touch Pro 2 is already being phased out by the Imagio, not "Hey, whats everyone's opinion if this is a smart business move". I've gotten lots of personal opinions and business standpoint opinions, but only what, 2-3 people have "legitimately" answered saying "Well, I called in and wasn't given that answer when I asked to purchase a TP2 and they were out of stock".

I'm not trying to post this as fact, simply asking if Verizon is keeping up with their "A+ customer service training" and just telling users whatever they can to make a sale.
