Re: tp2 gps is there lag like in tp?
Feels like about the same lag to me, which was not terrible on my TP... depends on travel speed... setting the resolution one level below normal on Garmin seems to speed it up a bit for me...and between the two, I think the TP2 does seem to lock faster...my experience at least...

Re: tp2 gps is there lag like in tp?
Just switched from the touch 6900 to tp2. I read and followed a lot of the tips from this forum as I have been doing for the last couple of years. My gps locks on quickly, so quick that I use gps spot to mark where I parked my car and there is no lag. The sprint navigation works great. My internet sharing works great and the new htc router is fantastic. My only problem now is low battery life and I am working through the threads to make it better. Thanks to all who contribute to this forum....all our answers can be found here.

Re: tp2 gps is there lag like in tp?
GPS is just as laggy as TP1. City driving going 20-30mph is ok. Not near as good as stand alone gps system. Going down the highway @ 65, its not that good. Probably about a 2 sec delay, which is ok for city, but not good for highway.

Re: tp2 gps is there lag like in tp?
I made a thread about this back when I first got the phone. In my opinion the gps performs better than the tp1 in everyway plus it doesn't get hot at all.

Re: tp2 gps is there lag like in tp?
Hmm, thanks everyone for replying. Somehow, i figure that nothing really change that much about TP2 Gps compared to TP. In another word, seems to me the gps position reporting on TP and even also TP2 is inferior to the mogul. Oh well, don't know why they couldnt just use something which was working good....
I don't really have trouble with getting gps sat lock on my TP as long as I keep it up to date with quickGPS. but the lag in positioning is really bothersome, although nowaday i kinda got used to it driving (just have to look further down the road). guess will have to see if they will improve the gps for TP2 successor. I guess GPS issue won't ever be fixed. Seems like a hardware issue..... I am getting dismal battery life on my TP of about 2.5 hr talk time with bluetooth and 2-3 signal bars. Guess TP2 won't solve that either. oh well, guess i will be keeping the TP for another yr.... |

HUH, what are you talking about. The battery life for the TP2 is at least twice as long as the TP1. I haven't had any true battery problems like it draining fast or anything...

Re: tp2 gps is there lag like in tp?
As with anything else, You are making your own decisions. I made mine and I am glad I switched from the TP to the TP2. I never saw much of a lag with my tp. I even outpreformed my friends tomtom in downtown Los Angeles. Getting directions faster and keeping satelite connectivity.
However on the TP2 I get GPS lock indoors and even showed this to a Sprint rep inside a mall he couldn't believe it. I have gps in my house, at work, in my car, at the mall, at school, under bridges. My battery life lasts almost twice as long as my TP did. I do not run bluetooth unless I am at the gym though. In the car I use speaker phone and people don't even ask if they are on speaker. I love this phone. But I also love the TP. That's why I gave it to my wife and used her upgrade to get my tp2. lol. p. |

I don't get a lot of lag, but I have a Garmin NAV unit in-dash in my truck & it always reads slightly ahead of my TP2 (same as it did with the TP) ~John |
