The Sprint TP2 uses Google by default

Actually bing is pretty good, and a microsoft service (probably part of the screw google campaign lol)
I think you misunderstood me. I in NO way said that I use it as a search engine. I use it on my mobile phone for many different reasons on the home screen (as I mentioned). For a search engine I will always be a google man.

But bing's search engine is at the heart of the bing based app. I mean sure I'm not gunna go google something on bing, but bing still has some good upside.

Edit: I was refering to the people who don't use bing b/c it's not google. Rather than trying bing and witnessing the inferiority of the bing webcrawler and the annoyingness of it's home screen they just say bing is bad. It's like saying i'll never work fast food without actually trying it.

Re: WTF is Bing?? I want Google to search

Bing is win. The only thing I prefer Google for is basic web search, just because I like the results and how they are laid out better.

Other than that, Bing is really fantastic. If you ever need plane tickets, use the Bing travel; it's amazing. The damn thing tells you to wait to buy tickets or to buy them now based on analysis. Friggin awesome...I saved like $50 on plane tickets a couple weeks ago.

This is something I'd like to alter as well.

Yes, it did work for me. Here is a quote from XDA-Developers on the regedit I did on my Verizon TP2.

Using PHM Registry Editor:
Goto: \HKCU\Software\HTC\Manilla
Modify: InternetSearchUrl
Original: http://us.m2.yahoo.com/w/onesearch?....bmit=oneSearch
ModifyTo: http://www.google.com/m?client=ms-op...&oe=utf-8&q=%s

The ModifyTo search string is basically what Opera uses when you do a search from it's search field.

Regarding bing, sounds interesting about the gas prices, etc... (movie times, I use fandango, maps=Google Maps, etc...). I read Live search is great for looking up all this stuff, but I don't search for nearby restaurants, or find which gas station has $0.04 cheaper fuel). yways, I think all of us agree that we want the browser tab to use Google as the search box, not bing.

To confirm this - it worked for my Verizon TP2 as well - no problems.

Had an initial problem - installed CeRegEditor, and it kept throwing error messages when I started up, or tried to do anything (Vista Home Premium 64-bit). I tried "Run as Administrator" and that fixed everything.

Very easy to edit registry from the Desktop, for me, rather than on the device.
