Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
It is always a good idea to completely charge a rechargeable battery before initial use so that it can get accustomed to its capacity. The first few times that you use the device try to fully drain it and the fully charge it. This will allow for proper calibration of the battery.

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
No need to charge the battery before you use it. Lithium Ion Batteries have no memory effect, and can be charged as little or often as you like without consequence to the long term lifespan of the battery.

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
Please see my post here -
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...&postcount=800 Long story short, with any battery today it is best practice to drain the battery first, give it a full charge from as close to 0% as possible up to 100%. You can play with the phone while it's plugged in etc, but that initial charge is the most crucial. |

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
I agree with iggus.
When i got mine i put the battery in and it said it was 65% full. Well, it discharged in about 2 hours and turned off. I let it charge overnight and now it goes a full 2 days since its calibrated. |

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
Thanks to all. One question I was never sure of: do you need to be afraid of over-charging it? Does it matter if it remains plugged in, ever after reaching 100%?

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
When I get any new device I can never wait for it to fully charge. I just run it and when it starts to get low plug in the charger and keep on truckin'. Never had a battery issue since l-ion's have been out.

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
Overcharging really shouldn't be an issue, there's circuitry built in to determine the charge in the battery, resistance, etc and then when it's closer to the 100% mark it 'trickle charges'. Basically think of driving your car into your garage. You can drive home at 100mph if you want, but I'd recommend slowing down to about 5mph to get in your spot perfectly. Sure you can keep going at 100mph but there might be some problems...
That circuitry is different from one battery/device to the next, but is supposed to let you keep the thing plugged in for days and everything will be ok. Time will tell the reality of this of course... Best of luck to you and that battery! |

Re: Do I need to charge before first use?
Iggus is completely right. Use your phone until it shuts off by itself cause it doesn't have any power left. Then do a full charge. Also, overcharging isnt a problem because of what Iggus said.
