That was true in the titan/mogul days where the system was ALWAYS short on free memory.

I have found just the opposite to be the case with the TP & TP2 however (my TP2 is loaded with programs/apps & in just over one month it hasn't locked up once) where you're never even close to maxing out the mem.

For some reason, the link to the xda modified cab in the first post of the xda thread is not working. If you want, you can download the cab from here:

Just tried it, works beautifully. It will start to install, and then it will give you the option of installing to storage card or device.
