Any benifits to backing up to SIM card?

Just as the heading suggests... I'm curious if there are any benifits to backing up my contacts to the SIM card in my Verizon TP2.

I already have my contacts synced to MS Outlook on the home laptop and work desktop.

I've also backed up all my info using Microsoft's new MyPhone utility.

So any advantages to backing up to the SIM card, tooo?

Any drawbacks? Will info on the SIM card interfere/change/corrupt any of my contacts when synced down the road? I've ended up with duplicate contacts years ago when I ran into a sync conflic and it was a PITA getting it sorted.

Opinions and advice appreciated!

Mike H

So no one's using the SIM MAnager in any way?

Is this a Verizon-only program?

Still wondering if it's worth it to back up contacts to SIM card.

I can only see it being advantageous if you were on a system that let you move that card from one device to another. I don't know, if you got a replacement TP2, if you could move the card. That's all I can think of.

Re: Any benifits to backing up to SIM card?

Yes, if you copy your contacts to your SIM you will get duplicates. It will list the contact on the phone, then the same contact again with a SIM symbol next to it to show its on the SIM card. I could've sworn there was a setting someplace to ignore SIM contacts, but I can't find it right now.

This only comes in handy if you're using a foreign SIM, not the Verizon one, and are frequently swapping the SIM between phones.
