Re: Am I the only one that doesn't get the "multi-touch" fad?
Would agree with the users of the capacitive screens that it probably is a "better" screen... not arguing that.
Looking at the Leo videos the graphics really do appear to "pop" off the screen. |

Re: Am I the only one that doesn't get the "multi-touch" fad?
Until the capacitive screen styluses hit (I know HTC has a patent or two about that sort of thing.... well OK I "read" that HTC has a patent or two...), well I could care less about the whole capacitive / multi touch thing.
I *like* the screen on my TP2, and how I interact with it. I like that I can use a stylus to draw something in ink quickly that goes into OneNote. So much easier to just draw some info than find a way to type it. But, I have i bias. I've used several resistive screens - from the original Cassiopeia E10 and E105, to a couple Dell Axims to my Touch and Touch Pro 2. I'm USED to a resistive, touch one spot using Windows Mobile/PocketPC/Palm PC and I'm happy with the experience. From the one or two times I've dabbled with the iPhone, not being able to tell exactly which part of my finger was going to activate which part of the screen drives me crazy. There's a reason the buttons are so big on an iPhone. It has it's place, but the way WinMo is designed 98% of applications would perform quite horribly on a capacitive touch. Think about that any time you reach for the stylus to reach a small checkbox control from a three year old application. WinMo 7 will likely be a good start point for capacitive touch, but we'll be howling about how none of our old stuff works right anymore (just like Vista). The old adage, be careful what you wish for ..... |

Re: Am I the only one that doesn't get the "multi-touch" fad?
I completely agree. Although I love that Windows Mobile is becoming more finger friendly because of the iPhone/iPod Touch craze, I too love the option to use a stylus. It not only feels more professional but is sometimes easier to use a stylus than a thumb or finger.
I will definetely be more excited about capacitive screens when/if HTC decides to release the capacitive screen friendly stylus. Hopefully it will still be integrated into the phones and not something I have to put in my pocket or around my neck, lol.

Re: Am I the only one that doesn't get the "multi-touch" fad?
i used to be on the same boat as you till i had my Palm Pre, its the feature i would never have thought to find the most useful and use the most. the accuracy of zooming where and how much you want is great, and also easily zooming in emails, photos and such. you really dont get much control on how much you will zoom with a double tap

Multitouch is useful, but overhyped. I like it for scrolling on my eeePc...2 fingers to scroll. Would be nice for some things on WinMo, but not a must have.

I kinda wish I had multi-touch on my TP2 but I can live with out, for now.
