movie .avi "Cannot play the file"

TP 2 is supposed to support AVI according to the spec. But when I try to play a .avi movie in media player (they work on my XP and Vista systems) I get the message "Cannot play the file". Is there some config setting or do I need a DIVX codec or what?

I second CorePlayer. It's the JAM. Plays pretty much anything I've tried so far, including MP4.

Re: movie .avi "Cannot play the file"

What's the best source for downloading and what version of coreplayer works?
The site I got referenced to:
https://www.mobihand.com/product.asp...5&n=CorePlayer Mobile for SmartPhone/

says it is not compatible with the HTC Pro 2.

I did a try a trial download and the .cab won't install. I get the message "Installation of CorePlayer.Smartphone.r7427.cab was unsuccessful."

You need to get the one that says for pocket pc and not smartphone. The smartphone version is for pda phones that don't have touch screens.

Every video I play in CorePlayer plays choppy. Even if I convert it for the TP2.....

I get a hair better playback out of my h.264 files in album (because it give qtc hardware support & has the ratio button that corrects when things looked stretched), but I like Coreplayer so much better that I usually use that
