guess this link is semi broken :( now where can we get spare stock vzw battery covers? im actually going to use black paint used for a car and then a coat of clear :) should look fricking sweeeeeeeeeet, if i can find a cover

I used sand paper, then a 3m kit for polishing plastic, i still have to do a 1200 grit wet sand and polish.

the black color is under the silver plastic coating, you have to sand it all off.

so your saying that if i sand my cover it will be black? then i can just use clear to make it shine?

Yes, under the silver is black. Started with 180 grit, 220, 400, 600, then finish it up with 1200 grit wet sand. I used a headlight buff kit from 3m to buff the black plastic, no clear needed.
Tape off the middle part with the map so you don't scratch it. You may have to re-tape several times.
DON'T sand the middle. It is carbon fiber. there is 2 layers, the top layer has the map and the bottom layer is black. There is no way to sand the map off without screwing up the layers.
