lowering the sharpness did help a bit.... the pictures do look 'soft' but it's better than when then look like crappy webcam photos. I also do NOT rely on the Auto setting for ISO. It seems to give way to much noise in bright light, while not compensating enough in low light and giving a very blurry shot. When I manually set the ISO I get much less noise in daylight (always 100 or 200 ISO), and can actually get a decent shot in dim lighting (800 ISO, lots of image noise but usually no blur from an unsteady hand).
Still not very good, but passable and useable in a pinch which is I guess all we can expect....
