Re: Camera Settings

I dont see how anyone is saying the camera on the TP2 is better than, or even the same as the TP1. Several pics I've taken outside, in broad daylight, with both devices, when viewed on my laptop... the TP1 pics are clearly MUCH nicer with far less noise, are sharper but not pixelated, and color reproduction is better (thought neither are exactly accurate).

I'm pissed, to be straight forward. I figured that the TP2 would equal or surpass the TP1 in every way, save of course the lack of dpad and flash. To have such a horrible camera on a high end phone is silly. I love everything else about it, but the camera to me isnt even mediocre.

Re: Camera Settings

I just upgraded from a TyTN2/Kaiser to my new TP2, and I must say that i was at first bitterly disappointed with the image quality.

But after changing the settings from the defaults, I am now very pleased indeed! My settings now are:
  • Max Resolution (3M=2048x1216)
  • Touch Focus = On
  • Quality = Super Fine
  • Contrast = +3
  • Saturation = +3
  • Sharpness = +1
  • Metering Mode = Center Area
  • Flicker Adjustment = Auto
I noticed that my camera version is older than yours, jimmiekain. So in the interests of clarity: the Contrast, Saturation and Sharpness settings available on mine go from +1 (minimum) to +5 (maximum).

I found that with higher Sharpness settings, the image is smothered with little crosses when you view at 100% zoom .. but dropping the Sharpness way down takes them away and leaves the option open for subsequent Sharpness tweaking of the images taken.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion of a product. You can not be banned for having an opinion.

You bought the TP2 for yourself. Enjoy it. Ignore the posts you don't agree with instead of taking them so personal.

Sure .. the zip contains the originals, as they otherwise tend to get resized by the forum uploader. But compare the 100% crops to see what I mean about the unsharp vs sharp difference.

It might SEEM that the unsharp ones are blurry, but they have a lot more detail, which can be brought out in post-processing whereas the over-sharpened images are like that for life.

Sorry so few, also it's late afternoon so poor lighting .. but more after the weekend if you're interested :)

One more 100% crop to illustrate how oversharpening costs you detail.

Thanks for appreciating my small comic relief, some other people took it the wrong way and was being overly sensitive, oh well. In any case though I have been testing this whole camera issue and I have to admit the my tp1 takes better pictures than my tp2 using comparable settings.
