Verizon Data connection problems

Today I started having some issues with my data connection on Verizon. Frequently when synching my mail, weather, stocks, etc. or using ICS, it will ask for my username, password, and domain. These were all initially blank and everything had worked fine.

Having tethered with my old phone, I put in my#@vzw3g.com for the username and vzw for the password. This works. There are still problems though. This prompt keeps coming up (it didn't earlier in the week and it worked fine). Also, if I'm tethered, when browsing on my laptop I have to click a link 2-3 times or type a URL then immediately refresh once it tries to load, or else I'll end up getting a "page cannot be displayed" message. Browsing still works on the phone without any issues. Any ideas or is anyone else having this problem?

Justin

Re: Verizon Data connection problems

Got the majority of it fixed. Will see if I still get prompted for the password.

The problem turned out to be a simple one. I use static IPs on my LAN in the 192.168.1.x range. In trying to get another system on the LAN to be able to use the tethered connection I noticed the phone connection showed an IP and gateway in the 192.168.0.x range. I had changed the IP of my router, but not my systems. Was trying to figure out how to share the tether so that when I'm at a hotel with friends/co-workers and we have multiple laptops and no free Wifi, I'll know how to do it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

aaccording to top level support @ sprint the tp2 does not support configured static ip's on the device. im sure this applies to verizon as well. i trried hacking it through the registry by creating duplicate adapter entries in which there are actually 2 for each adapter that appears. no luck though. i wanted to have my own wifi setting retained while i used regular 3g services. but sprint said it cant be done. bad design decision IMO. many business users will need this. additionally many corporate networks require static ips.

Re: Verizon Data connection problems

Could you point me in the right direction to configure ICS on the Verizon TP2?

I'm test driving one and loaded a WM 6.5 ROM on it. I can't figure out how to get ICS working.

I also have a Sprint TP2 and ICS works on it great.
