You certainly CAN do this with GarminXT, I have done it plenty of times. You can plan any route you want & save the routes for later use. ~John |

Using Igo8 and works great on the TP2.
Here is a useful POI website I found to add more/custom POIs to your software. http://www.poiplaza.com/index.php |

I am using iGuidance 2009. It has text to speech and the interface is quite simple. I tried iGO before and it was great as well.

Re: Post Your Favorite / Best / Most Used GPS Nav for TP2 ?
Has anyone looked or tried Delorme?
Not that I have it on a TP2 as I'm still waiting for Verizon restock but I've used it on my Palm Tungston with a clip-on GPS and it at least works good although the maps are a bit old and there can be some incorrect data. But on the up side you basically you use this via a desktop program first, figure out your trip and any alternative routes you would like then just upload the maps and trip and any special points you make for the trip so if its just local stuff your doing, it just all goes to the card. So one, no need for a data or Wifi link so its rendering is probably pretty quick and uses no provider data amounts and two, no need to swap out the card. As well you also could have as much or as little of the maps already on the device so you don't necessarily have to upload those if you already have them on there. And the amount of space for the maps is only limited by the card. On the 1gig card on my tungsten can hold quite a bit. Might be able to get a large amount of the US on a 16 gig. I suppose if you we picked up by aliens in NYC and dropped in LA you'd be in trouble...but that hasn't happened to me in a while. As well it has voice prompting and some other nice car millage/cost and stop features. I don't think its the best of the best but it might be just the right thing for some.
