Re: Asurion insurance for TP2

Verizon's website quoted me roughly $80 deductible when I did my recent order and selected the total protection option.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone dealt with squaretrade for their ppc? It's $6.40 a month with a $50 deductible which is cheaper than asurion.

The deductible is less, but I think the $7 I pay Sprint includes both the Assurion fee and the TEP fee to Sprint

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Wouldn't squaretrade be cheaper since both the monthly payment and deductible is cheaper?

And it sounds like you are saying Sprint insurance uses Asurion?

I just got Squaretrade yesterday for my TP2. It was only $67 for two years after 30% discount. That's over $100 savings over Sprint's TEP $7/month. I have several warranties through them.

And it's only $50 deductible. BUT, they only cover up to $400. BUT, they send you cash if they can't fix it. NO REFURBS. You can then purchase any phone you want.

Sooo....while TEP can't be used as an upgrade program, ST can...

P.S. The 30% discount expired yesterday but just go check the website. They have different specials every day. Holla at me if you want 20% off. I can get a referral for it.

This seems like a pretty decent deal, my employer recently offered me the ability to transition my phone over to them and they would just pay for all the minutes/data. The downside is they are now the "owner" on the account meaning they pay the insurance bill and if my phone breaks they will give me a replacement blackberry (f that). So I might go this route so that I can choose my own replacement device, however has anyone actually made a claim against them and everything went smoothly?

Re: Asurion insurance for TP2

Squaretrade seems to have a good reputation, but there are two things that make it not worth it to me:

1. $400 maximum coverage.
2. No coverage for lost or stolen items. (Asurion covers this, not sure about VZW's insurance)

Yea the $400 max coverage kinda sux but you'll be able to buy this phone brand new in box for $400 in a few months anyway. Plus the $100 savings and $50 deductible kinda makes up for it. IDK.

I haven't lost a phone in the 7 years I've had TEP. *Knocks on wood* Which is cool but kinda sucks. And if I lose this one I got the Phone Tracker on it, so if I do lose it I'll find that sucka who has it and slash his tires. JK, but I would rough him up a bit.

Squaretrade is def not for those who have a habit of losing phones

I haven't had to make a claim yet but if they guarantee a 5 day turn-around. Which is def faster than GeekSquade service at BB, but slower than TEP. I can live without a TP for a week or two. I have an old Sanyo MM7500 that will do.
