Music applet has begun crashing; any idea why?

Whenever I use the TouchFLO 3D interface to select the Music icon, the music player displays, the two default songs appear, and then...after another second or two...the following WM message appears:

We're Sorry...
A problem has occurred with
AudioManager_eng.exe.

I press the Send button to submit the error report, but (of course) that doesn't resolve the problem. I'm taken back to the Music icon. If I don't navigate off that item, it crashes again within a few moments. This cycle continues indefinitely until I navigate off of the Music icon.

I've soft-reset the phone, without improvement. I believe the problem began after I inserted a microSD card containing .MP3 files in its \Music directory.

Any ideas what might be causing this error...and how to fix it? It would seem as though the player is failing when it's (presumably) scanning the contents of the microSD card.

FWIW, the microSD card is visible and usable in other applications. In fact, I just installed Pocket Player and it has no problems accessing the music on the microSD card.
