SMS how do u stop the incoming popups?

how do you stop the incoming popups? im texting and when a new text comes in. you have to manually dismiss it to continue on your regular text.

Also, is it me or if you have the text message box open and continue texting with that person..if you exit out it shows like (4) (5) etc as many text came through and in order to clear that you have to view it so many times and exit out again or it will display you have an unread text..

anyone knows how to clear this problem?
