Re: Can a regular Micro-B USB Cable be used to Charge and Sync?

I believe the problem is that the USB connection can only put so many amps or mAmps over the connection from the PC, but a charger can put out more mAmps.

For my Mogul I have a charger that has both. When I get the TP2 I will probably take a hacksaw to this apparatus to make the TP2 fit, but I got it cheap on eBay. So probably will be out of Taiwan in a week or so.... I was wrong, it already exists for $13.99. Put "touch pro 2 charger" into eBay search.

Bigger problem will be my car where I have a ProClip arrangement that dates from my 6600, took a year to get the right interface for the Mogul from them. The TP2 is "coming soon". I sent my contact there a query about expected dates.

Not sure why so many are saying 'yes', but it's definitely NO. Micro-USB will NOT work with the TP2. You need Mini-USB (Type B).

Re: Can a regular Micro-B USB Cable be used to Charge and Sync?

I don't know the technical name for the type USB connecter, but the one that is very similar to the HTC one will plug into your phone. Here's the kicker. OUt of say 10 USB cables I have, some work perfect. Charges quick and will sync. A few won't sync at all, but will charge just fine. And the last few charges very very slow and won't sync at all. Go figure!!! I guess they are just cheap!

Re: Can a regular Micro-B USB Cable be used to Charge and Sync?

I use the one for my Harmony remote that is plugged into my HTPC for programming it. Charges the phone fine and invokes active sync so I can use mymoblier on my HTPC and subsequently my projected 720p 100" screen. Oh glorious excess.

Re: Can a regular Micro-B USB Cable be used to Charge and Sync?

Will the retractable mini-USB Type B synch? or just charge? The wires look so thin, and it looks like there are only 2 wires. I assume the normal 5-pin has 5 wires so it would be thicker for synching?

This is the one I'm referring to

Also see pic.

Btw, the guy who said miniUSB (not microUSB) is right.

All usb cables have 4 wires. 2 power 2 data. The retractable cable should work fine.

Might just be my bad luck, but that is what happened to me. Now it is still charging on the wall charger that came with the TP2.
I've heard some laptops may not provide the full 500 ma that USB is spec'd out to have, also many computers will kill power to the USB port it they goes to sleep. Either of these could have caused the issue.

I have charged my TP2 on my PCs without problem as long as they are not in sleep mode.
