Thanks for the tip! My stock VZ TP2 would idle at 68-69% constantly but after the registry change and a soft reset it now idles around 47%.

Re: Is it Just Me Or is The Touch Pro 2 Starting to Remind Some of The HTC PPC 6800

I am interested in doing this fix to free up memory, but have never made any registry edits on my phone before. What does it do? Any downsides? How would I make the edit? Help a WinMo beginner please.

I am coming from a Palm phone and everything just worked, by comparison this Touch Pro2 WinMo phone seems to crash or lock up a lot more needing constant tweeks. I love the screen and the keyboard, browsing experience, etc. but I wish it would just work right out of the box!

Re: Is it Just Me Or is The Touch Pro 2 Starting to Remind Some of The HTC PPC 6800

This edit (the ResProxy edit in post #2) caused my TP2 to do some weird things...device wouldn't wake up, could not answer calls, random freezes. Luckily, the first thing I did prior to making any changes was backed up my stock ROM and Registry.

This is from the Stock Sprint Touch Pro2. I would assume this setting is the same for other carriers as well, but cannot make any promises. This will "Undo" the ResProxy edit and return the entire ResProxy Key and all factory sub keys (under ResProxy) back to stock.

ResProxy_STOCK_TP2.cab

Also, I have been running CleanRAM instead of Oxios this time around and it has been doing great. I get around 103 MB Free RAM after CleanRAM runs. I have mine set to do a Level 2 Clean automatically every 2 hours.

HtcAddicts CleanRAM V1.7.zip

Other files and information on CleanRAM can be found on their website HERE (Download links are just shy of half way down the page, there is a decent list, so you'll know when you find the list).

I have also been running S2U2 v2.04 since they seem to have forgotten the LOCK feature in the Sprint version of the TP2. I got tired of hanging up on people as I pulled my TP2 out of my belt holster when they called.

S2U2 v2.04 VGA/WVGA

More S2U2 information and files HERE on their site

I am also running Iconsoft PhonEx, and it is running beautifully and integrates very nicely with TF3D. Sorry, I cannot post my link for PhonEx because I have my registry key embedded in my CAB file. But Google works wonders!

Find more information on PhonEx HERE

This is just the stuff I have on my Spint TP2 that is working on the stock ROM. I hope this has helped someone. We will be working on ROM releases for the TP2 as soon as we have a HardSPL...which as I am told, will be ready soon! (I have nothing to do with the HardSPL, so I cannot answer any questions pertaining to it....so don't ask LOL)

In my experience, MS3 and TF3D are both very comparable in memory use... I run anywhere between 45%-55% memory used at any given moment.

i think that might just be you.... resproxy edit has been around since the tp2 was released in europe i think... we would've heard of the problem. besides, i've been running it for at least a week and a half and haven't had freezes, locked calls or wake up probs. i haven't had any freezes or wakeup probs all month either... very strange not to have a winmo phone not lockup at least once a week.

it might be some settings you have set on s2u2... did you switch to raw instead of directdraw?

The S2U2 was not loaded until after undoing the ResProxy edit. And I am very particular when I am in my registry either on the phone or on my PC, so the information that is in Post #2 is exactly what was edited in my registry. Also, I am not the only person to have this issue after completing the edit. I actually found this thread because someone made the suggested ResProxy edit, began having issues with their TP2 almost immediately afterwords (with in 10-15 minutes at max). SO I was referred to this thread in order to verify their issues to ensure it was not their specific device. This edit was tested on 4 TP2's, all of them stock, 3 on the Sprint network, one on Verizon. Two tests were on devices straight out of the box, no apps installed (one VZW, one Sprint)...one test with only PhonEx and GarminXT installed...one test with only GarminXT and CleanRAM installed. Same result on all 4 devices.

Now, it is very possible that this edit is 100% perfect for a GSM device and that it does not function properly on a Worldphone/CDMA device. It is also possible that the manufacture date of the devices themselves has something to do with the edit not working. We have seen variations in the past with the HTC Titan, there were 3 releases of the HTC 6800 line, some edits worked flawlessly on the 003 and not on 001 or 002...I chose to post my experiences for other users who encounter the same issue. If the edit works for you, great...it did not work for me, and there will be others that it will not work for, thus the CAB file to allow them to undo it. I am not trying to put down anyone's knowledge about registry edits because I know from experience that not all devices will react the same to identical edits and custom actions. Any experienced ROM builder can back me up on that which is also why there are testers for everything along the way, because every single device every released has it's own quarks and perks. We just need to provide a suggested fix and a method to undo the "fix" if it does not work.

Thanks for your suggestions though.

Re: Is it Just Me Or is The Touch Pro 2 Starting to Remind Some of The HTC PPC 6800

so strange... it has to be due to specific environments then because many more people would be complaining. as i said, been using the edit for a while now and my phone has yet to freeze (i have sprint tp2), lockup or have any similar problems. have u disabled push internet also?

i'm sure this is a silly question, but i have to ask... i noticed on the post on page 2 it says to change memsize to "zero." You did change it to 0 and not the word zero right? i doubt you made that mistake, but i can see how it can be made, so figured it's worth asking.

maybe u can start a poll for people who have made the edit... and get to the bottom of it. if it does cause probs, i'd want to know... i wondered before, but after a fair amount of time with it and no probs i just dropped it.
