If you take the battery out, it appears to be part of the SIM tray holder.

Re: What is the slot between the SD and reset button for?

this is it, in between the reset button and the sd card slot. the top of it is where the back cover locks into place. but below it, what looks to be a slot of some sort, is unknown.

You might want to crop off the pics of your birthday checks.

yes the top portion is where the cover locks into place, this is the same as on the opposite side except that it is lower down. on this side however, it stops sort due to the item in question.

Re: What is the slot between the SD and reset button for?

Here's what I got. There are 4 locking latches on the phone total. This mystery card is located directly behind/underneath the SIM card. I see some electrical something on the card. It's not part of the battery cover locking system. Like scotty said, it falls short of the mystery card.

I just want to take a pair of needle nose pliers and pull it out to see. Bye bye warranty

Re: What is the slot between the SD and reset button for?

Guys it is nothing.

I pulled out my sim and closely looked behind "the latch" with my soldering 10x magnifier. You can kinda see some electrical contacts but they belong to the side of a chip soldered to them.

The latch is apart of a plastic piece which supports the sim card in place. I'm not sure why the case was designed like this but there's no additional memory card/sim contacts.
