Subpar wallpaper -Very grainy
So I've been trying to find the right wallpaper for me. Every time I select a custom sized, or even a very high-res wallpaper it ends up being extremely grainy. It makes the home screen look terrible.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: Subpar wallpaper -Very grainy
Definitely it's got twice the resolution of the iphone & the PPI is pretty high.
I have found this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ghlight=hdwall It fixes the problem, unfortunately you have to create cabs to make it work. a PITA. I would rather just find out why when selecting a high resolution wallpaper it turns it into a grainy mess. I am hoping one of the experts on here can chime in with a fix, or at least an explanation. Re: Subpar wallpaper -Very grainy
yea i have the same problem, it bugged me for a while. I hate the idea of using cabs as a wallpaper because i tire of them quick. I know this may be a drawn out and ridiculous solution but i have an app on my ipod touch that has a bunch of wallpapers. After them being stretched out on my TP i decided to try on my TP2... viola!!! it looks perfect...so if you happen to have an ipod with that app you could try
Here is a example: ![]() of course as u might have figured it doesn't really help in landscape mode |

Re: Subpar wallpaper -Very grainy
EDIT: These settings are only ideal with TouchFLO3d disabled.
Use Gimp (free photoshop) to make perfect wallpapers. Start with a large, high res image. Use "scale image" to shrink and output to 96ppi. Then, use "canvas size" to 480 x 800 (crop as desired). Export as jpg or png. If you hate the way the "seam" looks when going into landscape, use Filters>Map>Make Seamless. Sample ![]() Last edited by mountainwampus; 09-16-2009 at 11:58 AM. |

Re: Subpar wallpaper -Very grainy
I've noticed even when you make a 480x800 wallpaper touch flo squeezes it between the start menu and bottom bar of the windows OS and you lose sharpness, I've tried 480x700 and It's better but its not perfect. Does anyone have the dimensions for the top and bottom sections of the OS?

Re: Subpar wallpaper -Very grainy
I'm also hoping for a good fix to this soon. My wallpapers look ugly on my phone no matter how nice they look elsewhere...
