My favorite method of soft resetting is holding the end button down for a few seconds and letting it power off. Then just power it back on. No extra programs to install and no taking the battery cover off.

Isn't that just powering off the cellular radio and then back on? I don't believe you are fully soft resetting your device that way, just going into airplane mode.

Here's hoping for some custom made covers that allow access to soft reset and sd without removing covers espically since cdma TP2's are the same

No, it's a complete shut down of your device. It's the equivalent of going to start>shut down on your laptop/desktop. Pushing the soft reset is like pushing the reset button on the front of your computer. It's not a very graceful method of restarting your phone. Give it a shot and you'll see what I mean.
