I'm using activesync to get my exchange e-mail pushed to me with whatever the regular schedule is. Most of my phone use time is listening to audiobooks via tcpmp with a little texting and occasional web browsing. Brightness is on default auto adjust and I did use google maps GPS actively for maybe 20 minutes while I drove somewhere. Bluetooth has been on for most of that time as well streaming my audiobook to my motorola S9-HD bluetooth headset. Oh and my battery says 43% left as of me taking that screenshot.

I have 50% left with this info:

Last full charge: 8:08AM (13 hours ago)
Standby: 10h 51m
Talk time: 7 min
Device usage: 2h 18m

I have my brightness 2 notches away from full...push email (Gmail activesync), rss hub updating every 2 hours, weather autoupdates...what seems to drain battery the most is the glitch where the backlight comes on by itself...it seems to happen every few minutes sometimes...

After reading posts here, I would say my battery life is better than some but not as good as others...I charge it every night (I like having a fully charged battery in the morning) so I've probably done 10 charges or so...a couple times though I feel like I went very quickly from one bar to it telling me to plug it in so is it possible for a battery to drain quickly towards the end?

My battery is similar to yours in terms of device usage and standby time and how much juice is left afterwards, im not sure if I should try to get a new battery or what to do. I dont have the backlight problem though.

When they say it takes a few charge/discharge cycles for the battery to kick in does that mean you have to let it completely drain? My battery does drain rather fast from 1 bar to the exclamation mark sign as well.

Wow your battery is amazing, I wish mine would last that long all around. I was wondering how come your talk time is greater than your device usage time, mine counts the talk time towards the device usage time. Do you have any of your own tips on what to do to optimize my battery use?? Thanks for posting a ss!

Seems like there is a couple of camps of people up in here...1st gen TP owners that have flashed custom ROM's and generally optimized their phones...PLUS probably an extended battery from Seidio (I'm one of those, and biased toward Seidio batts.)...then there are first time TP2 users...and have EVERYTHING under the sun running.

My TP2's batt life beats my ROM flashed, radio flashed optimized extended battery wearing TP on any given day. I've only installed Goodthings' TP2 Sprint cleanup and No2Chems batt drivers. I have my exchange server sync every 2 hrs and my other email do the same. I use bluetooth extensively...and I'm on Opera quite a bit. Plus your normal 30-45 texts a day and about 30 mins of total talk time. Oh BTW, I have S2U2 running as well...which seems to be playing very nice with the battery. =D>

Hmmm...I probably can't do worse trying a new battery...I think I'll wait until the TP2 is in stores and then go try and swap it out...

Btw though...can you guys with the great performing batteries mention where you have your backlight brightness set? In theory that could make a bit of a difference...

I think most people on this forum are first time TP2 users unless they had the euro version ofc ....I have turned off the auto adjust backlight, and have it on the 3rd notch, and all of my settings are set to optimize battery life, I even have manual updates on email, weather and stocks. I have also disabled push pages in opera, so I dont have everything under the sun running.

I've installed the GPS cab, mighty mikes updated toolbar, battery driver and thats about all. So if there is something that I can do to further optimize my battery life by all means let me know.

Try this if you haven't already done so...Goodthings have done much for TP users and now he's at it again for us TP2 users...

On top of that...it might be worth a shot at giving S2U2 a try to preserve your batt. I have had NO battery problems with S2U2.

Now that I think about it I probably cheated because I had to plug it into my laptop for a short amount of time to copy something off and it probably got a little bit of a charge. That should still be decently accurate though. It now shows:

12:25 standby
6:39 talk
6:38 usage

And is at 39 without further plugging in.

Compared to the G1 this battery and battery life are a "dream" come true...pun intended :)

Re: htc tp2 battery is weak

This should tell you everything: When I got my Touch Pro, it came shipped with TWO batteries due to the battery life issue, this was not a mistake. My TP2 has an awesome battery life thus need only the one, and that is with push mail , continuous syncing , streaming music, talking, watching video, web surfing...And it still has at least 30 percent left at 8 pm. There is no comparison between the 2. If you are having to charge after minimal use, you definitely have either defective battery or phone OR you must be leaving your WIFI on all day. I even run Mobile Shell 3.5 which I was told seems to suck down a lot of folks batteries. I love my TP2. I do not even use a battery tweak on it, but if someone has one that they definitely know works on the TP2 please post it in a reply ..Thanks

you're advising running s2u2 to PRESERVE your battery??

In my experience, that app has turned into such a bloated battery hog that I will never run it any more (I used to love it)

I now run PocketShield (awesome program & MUCH lighter than s2u2)
