Contacts backup programs
With Rhodium HSPL out for GSM and hopefully soon CDMA we will all be flashing roms like crazy.
I searched and found these contacts backup programs: 1. www.dashwire.com (Free auto back-ups to their servers) 2. www.dotfred.net (Free PIM backup) 3. www.nuevasync.com/ (Free auto sync with google) 4. www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/pocketpc-software/backup/ (Spb backup costs $25) 5. www.spritesoftware.com/products/sprite-backup/full-edition (Sprite backup costs $30) What program(s) would you rom flashing nuts suggest to us future rom flashing nuts? Personally I am looking for a free very simplistic fast option to back-up contacts...flash new rom...restore contacts. |

Re: Contacts backup programs
I prefer google sync to backup my contacts and calendar. Who doesnt use GMAIL and who wouldnt want their contacts and calendar updated there

Re: Contacts backup programs
If you use activesync and pimbackup both with restore the same contacts giving you duplicate contacts and if you then resync with activesync it will backup those duplicate contacts so what you want to do is back up your contacts using one or the other. But if you already have duplicate contacts then there is a cab floating around that will fix it for you.

Re: Contacts backup programs
Well you shouldn't get duplicates if you pim backup then flash a new rom since the phone is contactless.
Regardless I'm playing with google autosync using nuevasync. |

Re: Contacts backup programs
You will get duplicates if you use PIM backup before activesync/wmdc. Did that many times with my 6700 and it was highly annoying as I ended up with 4-5 copies of the same contact which took forever to get sorted out.

Re: Contacts backup programs
I just use Outlook. It already handles my calender, tasks, and email. Any time I make a change on the phone contacts or on my computer contacts and sync my phone it makes the necessary changes to the other. Used it with my PPC-6700, Mogul, and now TP2 with no issues what so ever.

Re: Contacts backup programs
Exchange server
By the way, if anyone syncing with Exchange Server or Outlook, and wants to use PIMBackup, make sure you do NOT backup/restore your Outlook account or contacts with PIMBackup. You will end up cleaning up duplicates until you realize that hard reset is actually easier. Been there, done that, got a t-shirt |

Re: Contacts backup programs
I didn't get a t-shirt when i had duplicate contact problems However, it is good to have multiple backups in case your contacts get deleted, which I have had happen when changing activesync settings not thinking it would delete my contacts rather than copy them to the other source.
