There was a streak that was lighter than the rest of the phone running down the middle....but it was gone the next day just like hypnotic said it would.

I used a soap and water, but didnt wear any gloves. The only problem I have is that I think I may have put the non-adhesive side down on the screen ...the reason I think that is because the screen protector shows every single fingerprint/gesture on it and usually by the end of the day it is covered in a foggy layer of oil/grease from my fingers. Can anyone confirm that I did mess up lol, or is this just a bad screen protector?
It's not a bad screen protector, it just doesn't avoid fingerprints AT ALL.

What I find interesting is that Boxwave does not instruct you to use the water method on their website and there have been posts in other threads by people that have used their screen protectors saying they lasted for over a year.

Soap is like Window Tint

Professional Window Tinters use soap and water when they install it on your car. This allows the film to shift and also activates the adhesive. Thanks for this fantastic tip!

I got this 3-pack, here:
http://www.thepocketsolution.com/PSI...Protector.html
There is a small curve out of the top for the earpiece, and a larger curve to the bottom edge to fit around the buttons.

Definitely trying this when I get my screen protector in. Has anyone tried boxwaves Spring TP2 screen protector for a Verizon TP2? In the picture it looks like it doesn't have the hole for the front facing camera, which unfortunately the Verizon version they have still does.

Re: [Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

Has anyone tried just hinging the protector to one edge of the phone with scotch tape before applying? This should allow a near-perfect alignment and hold the leading edge for you as you peel the backing from below while smoothing it down from above. I've used this to apply custom labels before. I'd never cover this phone's screen in soap and water. I think I'd rather risk the scratches, which in my experience with other HTC phones aren't that many or that noticeable if you carry it in an empty pocket all the time, even after years of use. As long as you're not carrying keys in the same pocket, you're really only talking about less than hair-fine scratches that are only visible in direct, bright light. I don't even really see the point of protecting the screen cosmetically when it's always going to be covered with a scratched up protector anyway that is probably also peeling around the corners and gathering pocket lint as well.

Enjoy Your Scratches Then. Me personaly, I paid to much for this device to be careless. And its not only about finger or pocket scratches, what if ya drop it and lands on rocks on the screen or etc.? Id sure rather have a screen protector on it that took the scratches other than my beautiful 3.6 inch display.

Ive had the same screen protector on for a month now and have 0 big scratches.

Re: [Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

If you drop this phone face down, scratches will be the least of your worries. More likely it will crack, in which case a stick-on protector doesn't help much. The saving grace on my old XV6700/6800 was that the screen was recessed, and though it's not as nice looking to have a frame around the screen, at least when it was dropped the case took all the damage.

FWIW, I carried my 6800 around in my pocket with nothing else inside for 2+ years. It still has 0 big scratches. Only micro-scratches from contact with the pocket fabric, and those are not even visible unless I take it outside into the sun and tilt it at an angle. And to be honest, I have to wipe away all the fingerprints to see the scratches even in sunlight. Just personal preference, I'd rather have invisible micro-scratches than look at the screen through the distortion of a cheap plastic film. All the ones I've seen make the screen look a bit grainy compared to when it is naked. Also, if you're worried about the safety of your phone, swabbing the screen with soapy water in a foggy bathroom doesn't sound all that safe to me. Too many things to go horribly wrong.

That's just me. I have a strong distrust for all these cheap devices claiming to protect your investment. The reason I started carrying my 6800 in my pocket was because I used to carry my 6700 in one of those aluminum hard cases with belt clip. Seemed like a great idea at first--metal armor for my phone, sure it looked like an ugly brick attached to my hip, but what could go wrong? until a few months in, the door started to get loose, til finally it would just hinge open at random times and my phone would fall right out onto the bricks, face down. After 3 of these incidents in a week, I decided to toss the case and keep it in my pocket instead. Haven't had a problem with this in the last 4 years.

Lightbulb Re: [Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

Guys/Gals...being an OCD type of guy myself in keeping my TP2 in pristine condition has driven me crazy...and I came to an epiphany.....why are we worried about scratches on a 600$ phone when our 15k$+ cars our scratched and damaged everyday....

I have let go of my worries and now enjoy my phone even more.

Its only a phone.....
