VZW TP2 Roaming on AT&T..... SOLVED

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2Mn6aczVNg

After contacting Verizon Global Services I was able to unlock my VZW TP2 today (for free) and pop in my European SIM. Supports my SIM PIN, can see all my contacts, and even supports short codes.

While this doesn't mean that at AT&T SIM card would work because it's supposed to be locked down for US carriers, it does show that US frequencies are available.

Enjoy, sorry I didn't show the Unlock.

No charge, you just have to agree that VZW is not responsible for charges you incur or problems with service. You're getting AT&T signal?

Holy crap - that's awesome! This means we aren't locked down to using the SIM card that Verizon provided. So the SIM you popped in there is a SIM you got from AT&T in Europe?

No the SIM is a Mobitel SIM, a company owned by Vodaphone, but most pre-paid GSM providers have agreements to let each others SIM roam on their networks.

It's awesome because we're not restricted to using the SIM card Verizon provided & pay the same expensive rates you're paying with your Sprint GSM card. We can pop in a pre paid SIM card when traveling to another country and pay local rates. It's A LOT cheaper.

id imagine if they figured out to unlock the sim to us carriers on my old i930, they would be able to do it on the tp2 (crossing fingers)

I posted awhile ago that the sim unlock works. I have a telus one and I am able to use a at&t sim on their network while in the states.
