Re: Sprint EVDO vs 1X: Which consumes more power?
to answer one of your questions, 1X take more battery consumption than EVDO does. This is mainly because when the phone goes to 1X mode it continuously searches for a EVDO connection to get back to. (basically looking for the towers)
what i would do is if your in a control system room and if you have a phone there which you can use for personal calls as well, you should call forward all calls to that number while your there.

Re: Sprint EVDO vs 1X: Which consumes more power?
1xRTT will use more power for data because it's just an older and less efficient tech. Over all, it shouldn't have a drastic effect on battery life.
What you should be more worried about is the phone hopping between EvDO and 1xRTT because it is constantly changing modes and subsequently drains the battery due to this ping-pong effect. There is a registry edit that allows you to select which mode you are in under phone settings. Look around for that, I'd find it for you, but I'm on my phone. Whatever you do, DO NOT set it to EvDO only. You will not be able to receive any SMS messages or calls. |

It would do this however if you were switching between a preferred carrier and a roaming carrier. Both would drain battery life, though. |
